Troy game - MICHAELSPAPPY - 02-10-2018 02:18 PM

RealtimeRPI picks Troy by 18.
Sagarin picks them by 10.

Wesley person is still their big gun at 19.1 ppg. They have two other players averaging double figures. Then it drops off to 7.9.

Maestri is gone, but some things never change. Troy still lives by the 3. Over 45% of their attempts are from the arc. And they make 34% of them, so our perimeter defense had better be much better than it usually is.

With our atrocious FT shooting, we don't want to get in a battle with them at the line, because they make 74.8% of theirs.

This looks like a tough game for us, because their strengths match up well with our weaknesses. (Of course, all games are tough games for us.)

Looks like another blow-out- down 12 at the half. Ironically, ASU is the only team we have a chance of catching. They are 4-9, we will be 2-11. Still very unlikely we could make-up two games and win the tie-breaker. First, we would have to beat them in Jonesboro, which also seems highly unlikely.

Will we even qualify for the tournament? I'm sure if we do it will be a one and done anyway.

Every team goes to the tournament.

Hard to argue with a straight face that we even deserve to go there. I guess sacrificial lambs are necessary for the better teams to get a warm up for the real games to come.

Well, we'll look at the bright side (what there is of it), since there doesn't seem to be much else to do this season.

9 rebounds by Oliver
Lottie 11 of 14 from the line
Gilmore 5 of 6 from the field
Team 17 of 23 from the line
Only 9 turnovers

Shame the dark side was so dark.

I always thought Gilmore looked like he could be a good player. I guess another positive is that all those guys are back. I really believed that if we were competitive this season (lets say 7-11), the future looked really bright. However, having everyone back, from a last place team, may not be such a great thing.

What about having 6 seniors back from a 30-5 team?

But Josh Hagins wasn't one of them. That alone made a huge difference.

But we still should have won a LOT more games than we did.
