D-Line, but that's all I see right now.

Cole Birdow. DT from MD

6'5", 315lb DT

He is a big man. I don't want to see him running pass routes for us but he looks strong at penetrating as a DT.

Looks pretty agile for a big man -- could be a good one.

Yep looks like a big wingspan too. Got this arms up and disrupted some passes.

I hope their crystal ball is nice and clear. Robby Love looks like he would be another good addition to the POP -- hope we get him.

Just noticed this years class has 2 of the top 5 highest rated players we have ever had. Also if Wolff is that good he will make a lot of players around him better than their ranking.

You could say the same for Jorell. If he starts demanding double teams, it gives his teammates more room to wreak havoc.

#3 class in CUSA, #78 in the nation, .7935 avg, with maybe another 10 schollies to hand out?

RE: Football Recruiting: 2019 - Grommet - 08-23-2018 06:02 PM

Oh he's one of the stragglers we talked about a few pages back...

Quote:In July, Elizabeth City (NC) Northeastern three-star defensive end Jorell Baum made the decision to commit to the Old Dominion Monarchs over offers from East Carolina, Kent State, The Citadel, and Tennessee.

He went public with his commitment earlier this week as a present to his mother for her birthday.

I committed in late July. I wanted to announce it today (August 19) because it is my mother’s birthday,” he told 247Sports. “She was very excited to hear I was going to ODU.”

The 6-foot 3-inch pass rusher committed to Old Dominion due in large part to the interest they showed throughout the recruiting process. Baum was recruited by area recruiter Ron Whitcomb.

“ODU showed a lot of interest and I felt like it would be a great home,” Baum explained. “I really liked their campus, and the ODU football staff.”

Despite coaching the quarterbacks, Whitcomb and Baum formed a very good relationship throughout the course of his recruitment.

“It’s great,” he said about his relationship with Coach Whitcomb. “If I have a question, I know I can text him and he will text back and answer.”

With a relationship already build, Baum originally committed to Whitcomb in July.

“He was excited and grateful to hear that ODU was my choice,” he said.

Listed as the No. 83 weak side defensive end prospect in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, the three-star commitment is the second-highest ranked commitment for the Monarchs in the 2019 class, trailing three-star quarterback Hayden Wolff.

The Monarchs class, which currently holds 20 verbal commitments, ranks third in Conference USA.

I was thinking bass-ackward, but I think I was right: we have 20 in the class now. We can sign 5 more no questions asked, and because we only signed 20 last year if we can sign another 5 so long as they enroll in January.

My original line of thought had more to do with attrition from 2017's class.

My cousin sent me a quick pic of our 2019 Greer wr commit, Braxton. My cousins all played for the hs.

He said he's really good.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Judging from who offered and was interested. 2* at best.

I just don't understand these kids. Just two months ago the guy is in the paper.

"The Monarchs also received a commitment from Lake Taylor defensive back Javon Harvey. The 6-0, 180-pounder also committed via Twitter. He chose the Monarchs over offers from Tennessee-Chattanooga, Towson and Hampton. He said it was important for him to stay home. He said his relationship with ODU assistant defensive coordinator Kermit Buggs was huge.

“The relationship that me and Coach Buggs has is tremendous,” said Harvey, rated a two-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals. “My mom likes Coach Buggs and she feels the same way that I feel about ODU.”

52-10 loss to a team like Liberty will change a lot of minds!
