JMU games postponed this weekend due to breakout of the mumps. Their Thursday game was going to be against UNCW. Will be interesting to see when it is rescheduled, because it might impact Wilmington's readiness to play against the tribe

Believe it's only a confirmed case with a coach. But one player is showing similar symptoms & they can't be sure yet. Was surprised to see the postponement. Probably for the best, but very strange.

So, UNCW now has a week to rest up and prepare for their home game on Saturday with Hofstra, with Hofstra playing at Elon on Thursday. Will be interesting to see what if any benefit this has for UNCW and detriment to Hofstra.
Would imagine it will be tough to get both games resheduled for JMU, without UNCW and Elon rightfully objecting to the options. Possibly they'll be ruled as forfeits, or just not played and standings fall where they may??
A week may clear the infectious period for the coach and possible player identified, but can take up to 25 days for symptoms to show up, if anybody else was infected. Can of worms.

I bought my ticket for the game against Elon this afternoon, wish I had waited, I doubt I'll get a refund. I can't go if the game is played during the week.
I'd take a rain check for next years game.

JMU kids a bunch of anti-vaxers? Ever heard of MMR shots? Vast majority of the team should be immune. 10% or so can actually get it even if vaccinated...seems like an overreaction.

It's fairly possible that MMR vaccinations aren't common in their homeland. What is for certain is they all have the required shots to attend public school.

JMU was just trying to avoid showing they are the last place team. UNCW and Elon are two teams they could have passed with victories, so they are saving face by putting them off later in hope everyone forgets how bad they really are.

Not to mention that the last thing the CAA needs is a national story about how there is a Mumps epidemic, that could have been prevented, running through the League, shutting the whole thing down, while it is controlled.
What a public relations nightmare that would be.
While it is mostly running through the coaching staff now, you definitely don't want it to start spreading to players and then opposing players.

Agree with you, a lot of us old folks (coaches perhaps) weren't vaccinated for the mumps. I got it after puberty, because there wasn't a shot back then.
There was a measles outbreak at Northeastern in the late 90's and a football game against JMU was forfeited because of it. I remember since I had a ticket for the game.
This affects the women's team as well, so the "coach" was probably an athletic trainer or something like that who worked with both teams. Unless the school has gone off the deep and end and the two teams share a locker room, which they probably do for home games.
