Now this article only has one side of the story but it doesn't seem like the ODU coaches really cared about this 3* kid. But honestly our recruiting sucks and this is probably on of the reasons why. Very frustrating

What are they doing ???? Losing a 3star recruit that was pretty flexible playing both sides of the ball. ODU wants to secure another below 10th rated recruiting class so they can continue their rise to mediocrity and continue to beat pansies. Finally, they are doing a great job at ensuring we continually get our As%$ kicked against good teams. Been saying for years our recruiting sucked, but hey I am being negative.

If ODU really wanted the kid, they would have had him sign at the early signing period. I would like to hear Wilders thoughts on this, but I doubt we'll get the full story. We probably aren't getting the full story on this kid's side either.

You guys think he would have gone to Kent State if coaches thought he was at a level of a 3 star? The team didnt want him to sign early for a reason.

No, he was a 3* guard. He wasn't rated at a position he just started playing this past season.
I would wager they looked at the tape of him playing DT and weren't that impressed.

Usually individuals have to prove them selves at doing something well before the are allowed to improvise and go off and do what they want. It seems like the fellow is a good offensive lineman that wants to improvise but it is our coaches that are running the show and not the 18 year olds. That is the order of the universe.

I don't know what's going on but we have some pretty good defensive tackles. If position were the issue then I agree they should have been straight up "we want you to play o line if you're not interested in that you need to look elsewhere". I don't like stringing kids along but it seems to happen at a lot of schools, they don't want to cut a commit loose but want to keep their options open.

This answers your question right here. A 3* athlete doesn't translate to the kid can play anywhere on the field. I'm not sure how y'all don't understand this.
Teams mostly recruited the 6-foot-3, 280-pound Sams as an offensive guard, but he now hopes to play defensive tackle in college after excelling at both positions this past high school season.
