Struggling is an understatement.

That result pretty much takes Rice (still 2 games back) out of the #1 seed race. But it solidifies our path to a top four seed.
Rice beat Marshall in yesterday’s scrimmage (87-44) and can clinch a top four seed with wins in 2/3 the rest of the way. Charlotte can also clinch top 4 with 3/4. LATech and MTSU are not out of top 4 running yet but at 8-6 need to win both remaining and get help from Rice or Charlotte.

UAB in the drivers seat at 11-2 and controls their destiny with the tiebreaker over WKY.

I think if MT wins its last two, we are in.

But that's a big "if".

Welp, I was using ESPN the world wide leader, as my reference for updated standings. If they’re right, then MTSU is 8-6 and at best finishes 10-6.

MTSU has to catch 4)Charlotte or 3)Rice to make top 4. Charlotte & Rice both have more games left than MT, and Rice has more wins than the 8-win bunch. Charlotte and Rice could both still reach 12 wins and aren’t technically out of reach of the #1 seed (though realistically we are). MTSU and LATech are technically eliminated from the #1 seed.

So I think you guys still need “help”. You might have the tiebreaker, but you have to catch us first (!)

And... tonight WKU knocks off Charlotte by 20+. That should now probably give MTSU Control if its destiny, since they play Charlotte Sunday. KAR prob’ly figured WKU was a safe bet to win tonight at home.

WKU 12-2
UAB 11-2
Rice 9-4
Char 8-5
MTSU 8-6
LATech 8-6

Upset in Birmingham this afternoon... LATech 70, UAB 60.
Techsters up into 5th place and WKU again controls their destiny..

WKU 12-2
UAB 11-3
Rice 9-4
Char 8-5
LATech 9-6
MTSU 8-6

Sundays results.. top 4 spots are getting even tighter, MTSU Big 1 point road win at Charlotte. Rice loses by 4 at UTSA. (Rice now on a 2-4 skid)

WKU 12-2
UAB 11-3
Rice 9-5
MTSU 9-6
LATech 9-6
Char 8-6

Huge win by MT today on the road, for sure.

I do believe if we beat ODU, we are in the Top 4.

Should have a helluva crowd behind the ladies, as they tip off prior to the men's Senior Day vs. Marshall.

The Glass House should be a'rockin.

If we lose to Rice. We are currently 4th.

If you beat Rice, we will be tied with them and own the tiebreaker.

I think we place 2nd (of 3) in a 3-way tie scenario between MT, Tech, and Rice.

The Tech coach has done an amazing job after the Tyler Summitt debacle.

Your girls can run circles around ours.

What is Western’s record? Where do they rank in conference?

Correct. Rice would miss out in that particular scenario at 10-6. We are 0-2 right now in the group.
We’re also unbeaten at home, so don’t count on an easy win, either 03-wink
We played last game without our top player, though, so if she’s not back next week then there’s no guarantees that streak will continue.

Yea Marshall game for the men should be close to or completely sold out so the ladies game will have a great crowd as well for the ODU game

Yeah, a lot of things must happen for us to be the #3 seed. Rice must beat Tech, we must beat ODU, and Rice must lose to North Texas at home (not gonna happen).

If Charlotte wins out, all four of us are tied at 10-6. But I think it goes to round-robin record between all teams. So LaTech would have a 3-1, MTSU would have a 3-1, Rice would have a 2-2, and Charlotte would be 1-3. I think that edges us for 3rd due to H2H.

RE: C-USA WBB: The Race for the #1 Seed in Frisco - Doots4Dawgs - 03-01-2018 07:58 PM

That should lock a top 4 spot.

Only one scenario remains which would knock us down. Charlotte wins both, MTSU wins, Rice loses.
