OT: Louisville Schedules USF in FB (2 for 1) - CliftonAve - 01-18-2018 10:07 AM

Our old rival down I-71 have scheduled our conference mate for a 2-1 deal starting in 2022.

I don't think we will play the Cards again for a very long time. Its a shame because the Keg of Nails was a great rivalry.

Thats the Charlie Strong connection.

If they aren't willing to do better than a 2-1 deal with us, then hell no to that. I refuse to see UL as more than an equal, peer institution. If we also decided to stop being a school and dug deep down to reach a new low in college ethics, we could be the ones in the ACC right now.

Considering everyone in the Lousyville AD when Strong was there are now gone or disgraced, I doubt he has little if any pull with their scheduling. This is likely just transactional on the part of both sides.

Louisville already punched their ticket to the P5 Promised Land and sees no need to play UC. Why USF? Probably the Strong connection and more recruiting exposure in Florida for the Cardinals too.

The folks down the river clearly know that Fickell is doing something special in recruiting Ohio based upon this year's class. So I suppose we might take it as a compliment that they're staying away from Nippert and a potential future loss that would give Cincy even more credibility with Ohio recruits. Recruits that Louisville covets since their home state produces relatively few outstanding high school players.

There's a significant chance that by 2022 each of these teams will return to the cellar of their conferences, either because USF will return to their norm or because UL won't be able to hire another dirty old man to replace Petrino.

Their acting AD has been the equivalent of a Charles Smith Society UCAT for many moons. My guess is Charlie Strong and Vince Tyra are on each other’s Christmas card list. Would be like Jeff Wyler acting as AD and saying he and Huggins had no connection.

It is, or should I say, was the George D. Smith Society.

You got the drift. I’ve only section dived to steal their seats for games. I don’t know Charles or George.

I think it's also the recruiting angle. Lvl has recruited Florida quite a bit over the years.

Who knows...perhaps Strong is on the other sideline by then if Petrino gets canned for being a skeazbag like the guy from ULs basketball team.

2 for 1? No thanks.

Agree. Have at it USF. We've done quite well with upcoming home-and-home's with UCLA, Indiana, Pitt, Boise St. and Nebraska.
