TIGERBUDDY’S Post of the Year! - hsvtiger - 01-14-2018 02:31 PM

I just thought this deserved its own thread, as opposed to being buried amidst a bunch of drivel.
TIGERBUDDY posted:
“Well here is my .02 cents worth. I love these players. They are working their butts off to be a good team. They probably feel that they only have their team mates to bond with to praise the good and suffer the bad experiences. I am sure some of them read this board and get a little disgusted with some of the post. They certainly do not hit the hardwood with expectations of losing and they give it their all to succeed for the team, themselves, the city, their parents, their coach, etc. They can only play the type of ball that the coach wants them to play. If it is run and gun or half court it is not their decision. I would hate to get the bruises, cut lips, elbows to the face, sprained ankles, back problems, etc. and not have most fans appreciate what I was going through to try an attain a winning, decent season for everyone that follows the program. Why does everyone feel so righteous to comment on what the team or coach should have done while using hindsight for their 20/20 vision of the situation? We as fans should support these players win or lose and let them know we are behind them and we have their back against all obstacles they face. To paraphrase a line from a different sport " Let's root, root, root, for the TIGER team and if they don't win it's a shame but let's all go out to the ole basketball game!!!!!! Show these kids that we really appreciate what they do regardless of the circumstances they face.
OK I am getting off my soapbox now. I am not trying to TELL anybody what to do, I am only suggesting to look at the situation through the players point of view and you can form your own opinion on what you want to do. Hopefully you will embrace them individually and as a team. THEY ARE OUR TIGERS !!!!!!!!!!!”

Time to show some SCHOOL SPIRIT and support OUR TEAM. They committed to us....isn't it about time we commit to them? I am not sure there are enough people on this board to make a big difference quickly but.....at least a trend can be started.

I committed early. These kids chose to play for our team. Instead of the constant negativity, I chose to look at their positives. And I’ve totally enjoyed this season..

Same here. It's been fun watching them play. These guys have someone who knows how to coach, and they have sense enough to listen to him -- unlike the last 8 years.

Of course a positive thread only has a few replies, typical of this place

Good post. Despite Tubby's tirade ("obedience!"), from my perspective the players work hard and care and try to improve.

It is not their fault we will likely miss the post-season again and recruiting is a mess. They deserve our support IMO, but like you I am not telling others what they should do.

I fully support the Tigers and hope we have success and the team experiences a 'sense of success'. We do not have a 'coaching' problem. We have a 'recruiting' problem.

07-coffee3 Hey poppaslaw, I am also a big football fan like you. The football team now has a good following and no one is constantly putting them down, etc like the basketball team. It the shoe were on the other foot then my post would be the same except in favor of the football team against the unhappy fans.
