RE: Now farmers markets are racist - memphistiger89 - 12-28-2017 04:25 PM I thought about majoring in "Food Justice" when I was in school. They just didn't offer it back in the day.

RE: Now farmers markets are racist - Kaplony - 12-28-2017 05:45 PM (12-28-2017 05:39 PM)stinkfist Wrote: Kap.....I have one that is open (during season) every wed and sat on my side of town and one on the west side at a busy intersection that sets up daily Yeah, we have two that we frequent here depending on what we want. One only sells what they grow, so if we want something that is in season that's where we go. The other goes to the State Farmer's Market every morning and gets what is available. Both are local people just trying to make a dime. The town runs a "farmer's market" every third Saturday but they may as well call it a craft show because most of the time there aren't many food selections and some times none at all. We don't frequent it very much. RE: Now farmers markets are racist - TechRocks - 12-28-2017 06:13 PM It's impossible to parody the left. Really, is that an Onion story? RE: Now farmers markets are racist - rath v2.0 - 12-28-2017 06:15 PM These people are effing morons. Please, please, please do not breed. RE: Now farmers markets are racist - Chappy - 12-28-2017 06:18 PM Must be talking about California farmers' markets because the ones here are pretty fairly priced. Same here. RE: Now farmers markets are racist - nomad2u2001 - 12-28-2017 06:33 PM 1. I'm a farmer's market guy. I don't think they're racist. 2. I'm not sure the professors are saying it's racist either. This is just an example of a FoxNews.com article giving bad Cliff's Notes from a report from another resource and replacing the title with a more clickbaity one. The professors just said that the markets can end up excluding the people who stood to benefit from them in the first place. They don't just use race, they used income status as well. The don't suggest that they should be done away with or that they are bad in themselves. In a true geography prof fashion, they just suggested better planning for area stability to counter unintended consequences. RE: Now farmers markets are racist - rath v2.0 - 12-28-2017 06:36 PM Maybe they don’t take EBT on the first of the month. Vegetables themselves are racists. Why do rotten vegetables turn black? Racism. Ever heard of the Columbian Exchange? A vegetable transfer between the Old World and New named after Christopher Columbus who was was a racist! Vegetables grow best in rural areas inhabited by trump supporters so they're doubly racist. /sarc or parody RE: Now farmers markets are racist - stinkfist - 12-28-2017 07:02 PM (12-28-2017 06:36 PM)rath v2.0 Wrote: Maybe they don’t take EBT on the first of the month. like many of mine these days, it's cash only.....the 1099 is only when req'd.... how 'bout dem apples.... some only talk about it.....nuts zongo walks it.... RE: Now farmers markets are racist - Old Blue - 12-28-2017 07:04 PM We need to take a serious look at what is being taught in colleges and universities in this country. Look, I'm all for academic freedom and all. But when you can chase conservative speakers off the stage...well obviously academic freedom is just a myth anyway. It's time for full audits for schools that take any form of government money. Frankly it's getting ridiculous what is taught today. It's making our young people non-competitive in the global market. |
