Senate Democrats completely cave on funding the government - UofMstateU - 12-21-2017 11:41 PM

Without a wimper, the government has been funded until next month. The house voted the measure earlier Thursday by 231-188. The senate voted 66-32, as vulnerable democrats wanted no part of a no vote. It appears the senators have seen the writing on the wall, the tax bill is going to be a big win, and they need to watch their step.

One additional win in this package is that it allows Trump to sign the tax bill as early as tomorrow, and have it take effect on Jan 1.

Also, Chip is reauthorized through March.

If the Senate vote was 66-32, then obviously quite a few Democrats (at least 15) voted yes. I'd like to see the vote breakdown to see who some of these 'vulnerable' Democrats were. It's possible even a few House Republicans voted no since the current House set-up is 239 Republicans (and 193 Democrats).

Maybe they did some polling and realized the Dreamers ain't winning elections for them.

Or maybe they understand that the GOP turned the public off with their government shut-down to the point the public refused to even nominate a Republican to run for president.

188 nos in the House sounds like virtually every Democrat voted no. And 2/3 of those in the Senate voted no.

Those 32 get no part in the negotiations in January when they have to extend again.
