Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - Kronke - 12-14-2017 12:54 PM Room cleared. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote - Kronke - 12-14-2017 01:13 PM They're back. Repeal passes 3-2. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - chiefsfan - 12-14-2017 02:13 PM I already informed my ISP that if they attempt to try and charge me for different internet services, I will immediately drop their service. About the only thing you can do I guess is drop ISP's who try and take advantage of the repeal. The law has only been there since 2015. I don't see the big deal. The internet worked fine for me in 2014. This wasn't some new fangled law that Obama put in place. And besides, I still haven't heard any good reasons why it should be repealed. Anybody? Please? RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - Redwingtom - 12-14-2017 02:23 PM Did they ever answer as to whether they officially disregarded the scores of phony comments on supporting the repeal before they voted? Been with my ISP since 09. Went for about 2 years without issue, but started experiencing major slowdowns with streaming services beginning in 2012. When Neutrality passed, the slowdowns stopped, but instead I was mysteriously given a data limit with my plan when I originally had umlimited Data. Every time I went over my limit, I was charged an extra 10 bucks a month without warning. I'm tired of getting jerked around. I'll just spend more time at work and at public wifi hotspots if I have to. I am not accepting anymore new charges. It's quite simple. More power and more money to corporations. The only constituency the trump administration is really concerned with. Both my providers (Tmobile and now Verizon) just slow down my speed after I reach my limit. It was free with Tmobile and I think I pay a small standard monthly fee with Verizon. I have Suddenlink. They suck. I'm debating switching over to AT&T, but I'm going to watch and see how they handle this carefully as well. Suddenlink has taught me to never trust your ISP. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - NCeagle - 12-14-2017 02:32 PM not only this, but it probably won't be long until the government votes to ban municipalities from building their own fiber network as well. Another side effect of large corporations buying the government. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - NCeagle - 12-14-2017 02:55 PM you can probably kiss streaming services like Sling TV goodbye if you have internet through ATT or Comcast, or any big company that offers internet and cable. Now they will be able to block you from streaming through those services and force you to buy their cable package. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - HeartOfDixie - 12-14-2017 05:09 PM Comcast and ATT have instituted caps in certain areas--one of which is my area. Up until recently Comcast used to cap me at 300GB per month and then charge me $10 extra for the next 50GB. While that isn't strictly what this is about, that is your future under this new bull**** FCC scheme. If you want your internet to be a cross between your mobile data and your tv service you should be very excited. If you don't like it, then **** you because thats how government supported monopolies roll. From 2012 on that had been changing, mostly in select areas as opposed to nation wide. Now, expect it to be nation wide. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - DefCONNOne - 12-14-2017 05:31 PM The hellfire and brimstone posts are strong in this thread!! I'm guessing based on the aforementioned hellfire and brimstone posts, that the internet never existed until 2015. Which is strange because Al Gore was claiming he invented the internet 15+ years before it existed. If you believe the hellfire and brimstone posts, that is. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - b0ndsj0ns - 12-14-2017 05:49 PM If you live in a place with a good number of ISP's this isn't actually going to be that big a deal most likely. If you live in a place that only has 1 true high speed ISP that's where this could be trouble. RE: Possible Bomb Threat At "Net Neutrality" Repeal Vote; Repeal Passes 3-2 - solohawks - 12-14-2017 06:02 PM I see both sides of the issue. Many people have 1 legitimate option for internet at their home. Half of Wilmington is this way. You can get jerked around very easily without recourse However, I don't trust the federal government to police the internet |
