ESPN now own all of FOXs local sports networks - pesik - 12-14-2017 10:12 AM

fox keeps fs1 but gives up all its local networks, espn now has 21 channels

this a good sign for the AAC or bad...

Couldn't say for sure if it is good or bad...maybe a lateral? The games on the News and U get bumped to the regional net might be a wash if not a slight gain....depends on cost of subscribing to a RSN that Disney/ESPN is going to be doing in 2019.
Being how involved the AAC is with the ESPN contract, this will affect the AAC.

RE: ESPN now own all of FOXs local sports networks - ECUGrad07 - 12-14-2017 10:25 AM

So does that mean FS Carolinas will be available on the WatchESPN app?

Not sure if its good or bad for us either. As far as AAC games showed on tv in S. Fl, they are all in espn or cbss, so I really do not think this will hurt us.

no there are contracts that limit you pushing thing to other networks.... this will more effect our espn3 games

will be curious if espn now pushes to resign with the AAC for sure since all but temple is covered by their local networks ..every p5 has a network ...itll be interesting

will be curious how we react, if espn says they want to sign the aac for a ton of money but most of our games only on local networks

watchespn app? probably not...espn is launching a espn netflix type app in a 3 month..it will probably be on that

Less entities bidding for content is not going to help most conferences out.

RE: ESPN now own all of FOXs local sports networks - MWC Tex - 12-14-2017 10:33 AM

Think could also affect the CBS Sports Net sub-license deal they have with ESPN. Could see more of the CBSSN game on the ESPN regionals instead...

I don't think it is good at all. It reeks of a monopoly.

True unless ESPN decides to shut down the News channel or makes that the ACC network. Not sure if they'll close the U channel yet but with the RSN's now they could just close down the U channel and move those games to the various RSN's. So if a channel doesn't exist, there is nothing stopping from a game being put on a RSN channel.

The Tulsa/KSU game on watchespn had the fox sports logo in the upper right hand corner the entire game

RE: ESPN now own all of FOXs local sports networks - MechaKnight - 12-14-2017 10:58 AM

Not sure how it will affect sports, but Marvel studios has all their major characters back now. Maybe we'll finally get a good Fantastic Four movie

Generally, less competition means fewer choices and lower revenue for content providers (i.e., the AAC).

RE: ESPN now own all of FOXs local sports networks - mlb - 12-14-2017 11:05 AM

Current contract requires networks with at least 70 million subscribers, if I remember right. That takes all of the regionals out except for the espn3 games.

It was on Fox Sports Kansas City according to the schedule at tulsahurricane.com. It said FSKC next to ESPN3 anyway.

Bingo, First news notification on my IPad feed this morning was DIS buyout of 21st Century Fox for 52 Billion. Rupert Murdoch is doing his happy dance

It's on FoxSportsGo right now, in case you're wondering.

Only if your cable subscription is from the FS Carolinas viewing area.

I'm unfortunately in Southwest Georgia... so I get FS Southeast... lots of Hawks games. Blah.

Ah; yeah, I see the problem there...

Yeah....

And what does that do for Hornets and Hurricanes games in NC? maybe it can get the Hornets off that sh* SD hidden channel on Suddenlink to a real HD channel since ESPN does NBA.
