Roku or Amazon Fire. They are all good. If you don’t like Hulu or Netflix or Directv Now or SlingTV, you can literally go in and cancel your account online. No calling in and fighting with some customer service rep in India.

RE: Roku with Hulu - Chappy - 12-08-2017 06:18 PM

I got a roku and slingtv and netflix and have everything I need.

RE: Roku with Hulu - mikeinoki - 12-08-2017 07:02 PM

I have Hulu with Fire TV. Download ESPN and other apps for more programming like ESPN3 and replays. Use Hulu as the provider login.

RE: Roku with Hulu - Hurricane Drummer - 12-08-2017 07:06 PM

Why do these all sound Hawaiian? Like, do you shoot the Roku through the Hulu Fire with your Sling or something?

RE: Roku with Hulu - Edgebrookjeff - 12-08-2017 08:04 PM

I have a a ROKU and a fire stick. When I used the firestick on my smart TV, I had connection issues. But when I switched them out and used the ROKU on the smart TV and the fire stick on the regular TV , my connection issues went away.

I've been running Roku and Hulu with live tv, also had Sling. I like the Sling app interaction better, but switched to get all the sports channels, no CBS Sports on Sling. Kinda missing AMC though, not available on Hulu live. Both are better then a Directv or cable bill though.

I have Amazon Fire TV and Playstation Vue and Netflix. I log in with my Amazon Prime account to watch more shows. I am glad I cut the cord.

What is the truest to standard TV experience? I want to cut the (Dish satellite) cord, but I want to be able to grab my remote and surf (scroll) through a time and channel grid to see what's on that interests me. For instance, I love watching the 1:00am to 2:00am block of Family Guy on Cartoon Network. It sorta tell me it's time to go to bed. But with some of these "internet TV" services, it looks like you really just dial up what show you want to watch, when you want to watch it. I don't like that. It may sound silly, but I don't.

Except being able to record ESPN channels. It will happen eventually.

Can't you run it through a VCR and record it?

Okay, I was being funny, but seriously, I don't have a DVD recorder, can you do that with a DVD recorder?

RE: Roku with Hulu - knightmite - 12-10-2017 10:55 AM

What's a VCR? lol I don't see why not with a VCR.

Some other ways might be: https://audials.com/en/how_to_record_stream_capture_music_videos_movies_from/espn.html

But for me I'm paying for Sling and ESPN and want it to be easy.

Playstation Vue is what you are looking for. The only difference is the TV guide goes horizontal rather than vertical. It is also way better than Hulu.

Looking to go the OTT route...some good info here

RE: Roku with Hulu - bctn8n - 12-12-2017 06:46 AM

I would love to cut the cord but by the time I add internet, Hulu/Vue, Netflix, and HBO, I would be paying more than I am paying now. My TV is through my internet provider so I am assuming that is why I get TV so cheaply and the quality is excellent.

DirecTV Now also has a guide like cable. I know Vue just changed the format.

If you want a no sports option, try Philo via Roku. $16/month gives you almost all the regular channels and has an easy DVR option. Looking to switch after Bowl season.
