Yeah, the article says it is the first C-USA Coach of the Year Award for UAB, but I'm pretty sure Bill Clark won it in 2014.

A huge congratulations to Bill Clark, could not believe my shock when Ray Watts took down UAB football 3 years ago!
Hope you all get to stick it in Baby Bryant's face that your head coach is NATIONAL Coach of the Year pretty soon. I just spent last night speaking with a long-time friend about some positive messages and scripture that Bill Clark shares on his Twitter account. He is one of my more recent inspirations to pursue excellence in life. I hope the Blazers continue to rise and become a powerhouse in Alabama.

The media and the league both gave out Coach of the Year Awards in some years prior. Clark and Doc from Marshall split those awards in 2014. Media chose Clark, league chose Doc.
