That's not Steven Williams, right?

Oh yes it is. He really bulked up. I was a little surprised when I saw the pic but I'm glad he's no longer that skinny 17 year old true freshman that got thrown into action a few years back haha

Looking on Cam 3 for the location of the personalized bricks. Where are they exactly? I can't find them...
On the ground as you walk in between the 2 columns.

Thanks. I see them...

Somebody tell that person to get his Man Lift off my brick!!!!

Myself and Uncle Phillip who will be 80 in Oct. We both are looking forward to the 1st game and the excitement that will surround the program with the new stadium.

I will post two other threads with what looks like a lot of work to be completed in the next two weeks.

Work that still needs to be done. Most is under the Press box side of the stadium. The area under the stadium appears to be for concessions, restrooms, office space and maintenance areas. Wow they have there work cut out for them.

A few areas that have been improved for accessibility. Much needed and love the new ramps and elevators.

RE: NEW stadium construction - MonGNARch - 08-14-2019 08:09 AM

Once all the game action areas (stands, outer press box, turf, ribbons/video board etc) finished up, I will say I'm really impressed by the look of the stadium. It is small but it looks great. Seeing the team scrimmage out there really made it look great. August 31st came come soon enough!

I work for a GC and know that a lot of the areas that look like they have a lot of work left could be finished up by gameday. At least the majority of them. Punchlist and inspections may hold them up from public access but I'm sure the city/architects are aware that this isn't a typical construction project and could work with them to speed the process up (while keeping quality in mind). SB Ballard has done an incredible job up to this point and I would bet on them finishing up a lot of the public spaces by the end of the month. And if I'm being completely honest, I wouldn't hold it against them if some of those spots are still unfinished due to the quality product they have hammered out in a very short time frame

Also, thanks for the quality shots Oldtimer, getting up close shots from inside are crucial 04-cheers

Thanks ODU Oldtimer for the photos and videos. You need some rep points for the posts.

The fever and intensity of those first couple of years were incredible. To be honest I hope the new stadium will spark a resurgence of the excitement that the program deserves. We have all the elements to make this expand and blow up even larger in the next few years. Aim High ODU Administration. Never sell us short and good things will happen with Football and the University.

Old Dominion Hail

That video shows 1st year enthusiasm that was high-trajectory indeed.

It doesn't make good sense to talk about how smart you are by limiting capacity just to allow more comfort and then spend the next 12 months wondering why everyone outside of that personal comfort confirms that you are not P6 worthy with only 22k in your stadium.

I will love my blue cushiony seats like everyone else that have had tickets since the beginning but I would have loved watching higher level games against programs like UCF, Cincinnati, ECU, and Houston just a bit more. Just me though.

Go Monarchs.

If you think about it you might see that the re-build of our stadium actually made inclusion into the AAC more of a possibility than it was. The current size of S.B Ballard is not the problem some seem to think it is. The condition of old Foreman Field certainly was. Our current stadium was designed to be added to in order to increase capacity it has remedied the problem of out-dated infrastructure which we had. If ODU were to have been offered membership in the AAC there would have been a two season wait for all of the work to be done to demolish and build a large enough stadium; now there would only be a one season wait. That saved year may eventually make a huge difference for us in terms of gaining the AAC invite which many of us hope for. Meanwhile, what we have now is great, and is likely the right match for where our program currently is.
