This is our friends new turf. See the difference? Thanks to BK for his lifetime contributions to ODU, but the name shouldn't be on the field. Use that space for sponsorship. That's prime real estate.

Guys, let's not bite the hand that is feeding us. He did a great and generous thing. There is room should an advertiser want to pony up and have field recognition.

What I see in this pic is a subpar stadium off I-81 compared to our new one. Our NEZ looks great compared to their visitor side and their scoreboard/end zone building looks disconnected and unattractive. ODU>JMU again!

New clear bag policy at the stadium.

Hallelujah! Our seats have been installed -- Section 114, Row T.

MONARCHS REIGN!

If JMU were smart, they’d put their TV cameras on top of their visitor bleachers.

Their current view just... looks... sad

Everyone would. Its not just them. I wish we had their end zone, height and suites though.

personally, I think the 1/2 of a stadium is the stupidest idea ever.

The people in their end zone do have a pretty good view of their scoreboard. The stadium does look kind of funky.

Kind of surprised it took this long for this to be implemented.

If we could do what they did with their end zone in our NEZ I would be more than happy.

And I do agree with you, if they had completed the lower horseshoe and compromised on some of the upper levels, it would make the stadium look so much better. Once they expand and make it symmetrical they are going to have quite the impressive looking stadium. Until then it will look half-assed and lopsided, and it's still really baffles me why they went this route (maybe to show potential growth to FBS conferences? idk)

Implementing a no diaper bag policy should be a huge crowd pleaser. Tell just about any mom out there that they have to unpack their diaper bag and repack a clear bag for a 3 hour game...only to have to unpack the clear bag and repack the diaper bag.

Well she will be glad that ODU is one of the last to implement this policy and you should have told her to enjoy her diaper bag while she had the chance. Pretty much every stadium in the country has this policy.

The bag policy is a bit much. It’s not like security is going to not search everything coming in anyway. Banning giant chair backs (that people don’t need anymore but would still probably bring) is a good thing.

Yeah, I was going to say that the diaper bag thing is pretty standard.

Interesting. In the last 7.5 years, my wife and I've been to at least 10 different stadiums WITH a diaper bag and never had any problems.

Here's my issue with the bag policy: What are they trying to accomplish/keep out? In my mind, it's just an unnecessary hassle.

RECOGNIZING THE NEED
Any event management team's preference would be to see fans arrive with nothing in hand but a ticket and perhaps a jacket. Bags brought to athletics events present a list of safety and security concerns ranging from mere nuisance to terrorism — fans may sneak in food, alcohol, noisemakers, weapons or other prohibited items — and checking each individual bag represents a substantial commitment of manpower, time, access control technology, or perhaps all three.

Article is from a few years ago, so I'm not sure what the current number is for colleges implementing it - https://www.athleticbusiness.com/stadium-arena-security/clear-bag-policies-become-standard-in-college-athletics.html

I assume weapons. But it could be booze. I know they have this policy at NFL games. It sucks there too. Hope this doesnt deter fans.
