What's the point? - Old Dominion - 11-29-2017 05:11 PM

Just read Ed Millers piece describing whose gone and who returns for next years football team. All you have to do is look at the roster to figure that out.
I wish it were possible to get a real scouting report on each player, especially relative to other CUSA teams.
Seems we always talk about the players in a vacuum, without any comparison to other players. Sure everybody looks good during spring practice, but what about in relation to others?

Is there anyway to get an honest assessment of each players ability?

No. Everything is best guess until they actually get on the field.

Not unless other CUSA teams are willing to let people into their practices for comparisons sake.

I think the question is what is the point of having a beat writer that only regurgitates open source information?

Good question if you ask me and probably one that can explain why many newspapers are failing. The open source is so easily accessable by anyone, they are going to have to start providing some proprietary intelligence or... what is the point?

Im not a huge fan of the local coverage, but he discussed the guys coming back and some guys he think could step up next year. Everyone knows that Muller has looked good in practice?

If you think you are going to get in depth scouting reports on any players from a local sports writer, you really don't understand their position. (or the fact that about a dozen people would care).

It's so reassuring just knowing Giles will keep us on the right path with our thinking.
