*** USF Bulls vs Houston Cougars Game Thread *** .... - quo vadis - 10-28-2017 08:33 AM

Man, does this one have me worried!

Houston is due for a win, and let's face it, we are arguably due for a loss. Houston comes in with nothing to lose, and unlike every other team we've faced so far, Houston has the size and speed to match up with us talent-wise. We're not used to that.

Hopefully, the Coog choke versus Memphis has them down, or something.

The Houston - USF series is rather weird, with the Cougars winning two AAC matchups in 2013 and 2014, and USF winning two C-USA games in 2001 and 2002. So this is the rubber match, for now.

Goooo BULLS! 04-rock

I hate to say this but I think it is best for UCF and the AAC that USF wins. I don't think it will be easy.

Good, good. Be worried about this one and not your next.

Should USF lose today, will they be completely dropped from the rankings? Discuss!

Touching profile of Quinton Flowers just aired on Game Day. Bravo, ESPN! 04-rock

We'll worry about you guys when it's your turn. Don't think we haven't noticed that you've gotten better.

But right now, it's not your turn. 05-mafia

FWIW, it won't affect the AAC. Even if Houston beats us today, we'll just run the table from there and get the NY6 slot anyway.

And I don't hate to say at all that I hope Austin Pea somehow beats UCF by a score of 55-0. Better yet, make it 60-0. And i couldn't care less what impact it has on the AAC, UCF losing always comes first. 04-cheers

Zero chance the playoff committee would rank them in that scenario. AP might keep them at 24 or 25. This is an interesting game because we have no idea how Houston is going to respond to the Memphis loss.

USF, FWIW, is a 10.5 favorite over Houston.

Go Coogs! Memphis needs USF to lose one, fall behind us in the CFP rankings, and then beat UCF at the end of the season. That would give Memphis the home field for the AAC CCG.

I'm like Quo. I don't give a flip what's good for the American. I care about what is good for Memphis first.

The best thing for Memphis is to beat an undefeated team in the American Championship game.

They all worry me but I like our chances this afternoon.

Agree. We have to beat them anyway and it only helps our chances with the Committee to win over an undefeated team.

Disagree. Thanks to SDSU losing two games, Memphis will be the NY6 rep if they win out, no matter who they play in the AAC title game. They completely control their NY6 destiny.

So if I'm a Memphis fan, i want that game at home, and against the weakest possible opponent. 07-coffee3

Agreed, the Memphis/Houston game is its own thing.

That would give UCF 1 loss. With a win over us. How would we get home field in that scenario?
Nevermind. Completely read that wrong. Lol

I guess a clearer picture will emerge after the Committee rankings are released 10/31/17.

Applewhite is our McClellan. He made the trip, so you guys should be just fine.

houston doesnt know how to finish games...we'd be undefeated if we did....
strengths and weaknesses, we actually match for both teams

Houston actually does amazing with dual threat offenses....arizona, louisville etc...run stopping is our specialty

at the same time we are arguably the worst second half team in the nation (gave up 80 points, second half only the last 2 games), and usf has shown to be one of the best second half teams in the nation

our qb are giving up an average of 3/4 turnovers a game between ints and fumbles..usf is one of the best to creating turnovers

turnovers are key, houston has a very legitimate chance to win but must have 1 or less turnovers..
