League attendance this week - MUsince96 - 10-21-2017 10:00 PM

Shew... Hasn't looked good. Painful to see on TV. I can't imagine potential TV partners on the deal we're currently negotiating can be too interested in airing this.

Seemed like a good sized crowd in Ruston. Charlotte has a decent turnout for their homecoming game against UAB. Who in your estimate, dropped the attendance ball this week?

Middle Tennessee, but you people were warned beforehand. Expect this trend to continue for the foreseeable future.

That may have been Charlotte's worst attended game this season, and it was homecoming. Pretty sad, but at 0-7 who can blame the fans?

I don’t understand the whole Charlotte thing? It’s a small stadium and your fans seemed hyped about football and now it’s like they’ve forgotten. It’s one thing when it was UAB poking sparse in their old Legion Field but that place was huge. My high school would get 10,000 at a football game. What is the deal?

With numbers like these we don't deserve to have any type of tv deal.

I was shocked UTSA almost had 26k . Playing Rice & 2 losses in a row. But we play UTEP next & hopefully we return home 5-2 with a chance to clinch a bowl game at home at 6-2. 2 losses by a combined 5 points

Minus a nice 6 game stretch in the middle of last season, the product on the field has been less than stellar. The product on the field is generally boring and I think you are seeing some backlash against the AD, who thinks "you should be happy we got you football" (despite the fact that we have football due to a grassroots alumni and student movement), and a football coach who rarely makes any adjustment to what is happening on the field. Basically, the product is boring, the gameday experience is uninspiring and repetitive, the team is unsuccessful and some are fighting back by not showing.
it think you could fill it up the Rich next season by simply having a new AD and coach.
Basically, like at Middle, you are seeing a protest.

Did you eyeball the crowd from tv shots or READING the stats released by La Tech?

RE: League attendance this week - SethManKA1 - 10-22-2017 08:25 PM

I think it is because we don’t have a good tv deal that attendance hurts. When fans can watch other schools on tv who are in the league it excites them to want to watch their school play that team at their stadium. Sounds crazy but a better tv deal I think will result in better attendance at stadiums.

FAU, what's going on there? They are pumping money into the program and the on-field product is pretty good. What else needs to happen to get consistent support?

There are many reasons for this. FAU is a 90% commuter school, which means an overwhelming majority of students do not live on campus. They have jobs and families, etc. Secondly, the program is relatively recent and is still working on establishing its own footprint in the UM's shadow. Thirdly, and most importantly, FAU has had an 8-year record of failure. yes, we had looked rather good in the last 4-5 games, but do 4-5 games erase a long period of losing?

BTW, I am going to the FAU/FIU game with my family. I usually do one game a season. It is difficult to do more when you live 40 miles from campus, have a job, a house, and a family.

Before or after the weather delay? I think the majority of our fans are psychic and knew to not stick around for the disaster that followed....or maybe we are just psychotic...

I’m seriously considering the WKU/Vandy game instead of watching the Blue Raiders flop around against UTEP.

That was our first FBS win at home, that pretty much sums up the situation.

I contend a better TV deal is deserved ........... because most of our fans are NOT at the game 04-cheers

The conference has never been known for attendance to be honest. At least in the last 15 years.

RE: League attendance this week - Lizard Breath - 10-23-2017 10:34 AM

Does anyone have the average numbers for the year?
