The latest reports (2-3 hours old) say he is alive, but unconscious and in critical condition.

Haven't seen any reports that he's officially passed yet, but gotta figure it's imminent any minute or hour now. Bummer.

The last report is that he is in the hospital for undisclosed illness. He has not died yet. East coast news have not picked that up yet, and are reporting the old news from several hours ago.

Right, the CBS news reported it falsely, and the LAPD said they have never gave out any of the information. The CBS news deleted that report as it was a wrong report.

Damn this really sucks. I saw Petty and the Heatbreakers twice in concert. Loved his music, especially Free Falling. Ah, it was good to be king. RIP.
