Senator Corker won't run for re-election next year - Fort Bend Owl - 09-26-2017 03:57 PM

I think he's actually the first senator who is retiring and not running for re-election next year? There will probably be others besides Corker.

It seems doubtful the Democrats can win his seat. Actually Corker is somewhat moderate - at least he's been critical of Trump a bit. So I'm not sure if his successor might end up being more conservative.

Corker started out conservative. Once elected he moved gradually toward the left.

I'm ecstatic he's not running. But I was really looking for to primary-ing him.

Early speculation to replace him includes Bill Haslam, Marsha Blackburn (ugh) and Peyton Manning.

This is good news.

Marsha Blackburn would be a HUGE improvement over Corker based on the ratings below.

Liberty Scorecard - TN
Republicans
A 100% Rep David Kustoff TN-8
B 85% Rep Scott DesJarlais TN-4
B 81% Rep John Duncan Jr TN-2
C 79% Rep Marsh Blackburn TN-7
D 71% Rep Diane Black TN-6
D 67% Rep Chuck Fleischmann TN-3
D 60% Rep Phil Roe TN-1

F 47% Sen Bob Corker TN
F 17% Sen Lamar Alexander TN

Democrats
F 29% Rep Jim Cooper TN-5
F 20% Rep Steve Cohen TN-9

Please note that our Republican senators Corker and Alexander rank alongside Democrats. In other words, even though TN has 2 GOP senators it's effectively the same as having 2 Democrats.

Yes, Marsha would. She was my rep for a while. Kustoff is now. I read somewhere that its the most Republican district in TN. Thankfully, I am not stuck living in Cohen's district. He is one giant embarrassment to the entire state of Tennessee. What a POS ass clown. Just a pathetic waste of God's oxygen.

Announced on the day of the Alabama primary. Coincidence?

Blackburn was also mine before redistricting.

I used to live in Memphis proper where the Ford machine held the seat. That gave way to Cohen eventually.

I think I liked the Fords more than Cohen.

Exactly. One less RINO to worry about.

Hopefully when the time comes we here in SC can make Leftist Lindsey "retire" as well.

Believe me, I couldn't move any further right.

No, Corker ran as a conservative and moved left.

He scores an F on the Liberty Scorecard along with fellow RINO Lamar Alexander. That puts them in the company of socialist Steve Cohen (link).

Blackburn is nothing more than an empty suit and votes where the leadership tells her to vote. Has she sponsored any significant legislation?

I'm not saying she's great. I'm just saying she's better than Corker.

But you have to understand that bar is set pretty darn low.

Thank goodness!

Hopefully Lamar Alexander will retire too.

I respectfully disagree

We need people with principles and ideas and not just sheep
