Would love to see him in red and black.

As several have posted, all of a sudden we are a shiny, bright, clean diamond in a pile of shat (scandal marred) programs. Interesting to see how this continues to play out as there will be other players potentially seeking permanent homes. The timing of our highest ranking (#5) in the Mick Cronin era may have come at the most opportune time.

In addition to a high ranking, it would be an excellent time for a deep tournament run to catch the attention of recruits reconsidering their commitments.

And they get a shiny new arena.... our last final four was right after a new arena!

With all these players playing today, and Emmerts comments, I can only suspect that the NCAA will just move the field goal posts for everbody. Arizona may get some heat sonce Miller was wire tapped, but I won't believe for a second they will go after a team like UK, who has taken advantage of this system more than anyone.

I think Shaq jr. ends up out west, maybe UCLA.

This is basically an end run around the Ncaa. They're basically just observers at this point. Federal indictments, wiretaps, etc. is serious business. They look like pikers at this point. It's pretty embarrassing for them no doubt and they are likely looking for any way to spin it and save face. A lot can come out when in the face of jail time.

The term “Too big to fail” applies here. This is so wide spread that nothing of consequence will happen.

You may be right but this is not an NCAA investigation...
it's the FBI...do they care who is "too big to fail"?
and given the amounts of money that passed hands that I am certain was not reported on the recipients 1040 form the IRS will likely be involved too.

Of course this is what you say publicly:

Arizona basketball head coach Sean Miller said he "will be vindicated," defending himself less than 24 hours after news reports surfaced that the FBI intercepted telephone conversations where he talked about paying $100,000 to ensure a star player signed with the Wildcats.

I Will Be Vindicated

PR move on the part of Zona and Miller but too late and the evidence is too damning with the taped conversations.

Only way Miller is vindicated is if he was a plant for the FBI setting a trap for the agent (highly doubtful)

Ultimately he was caught red-handed cheating...prison is more likely than vindication.

FBI can punish those who the money changed hands through (agents and coaches, maybe some players). But it's up to the NCAA to decide how to punish teams. The NCAA is likely just hoping to push this past the NCAA tournament, they want to get their money from having top teams in the tournament.

After that, the NCAA will probably do the absolute minimum to satisfy public opinion. Good chance that the team that wins the NCAA tournament this year will have its title vacated before the start of next season.

Fine, but the NCAA will.only go after 2nd level programs like LSU. They won't attack the money cows.

"How can you get 60-100 Years in PRISON for helping young black kids eat and take care of their families??!? WAIT I answered my own question ??‍♂️ #ModernDaySlavery" - Mark Lyons

Guess meal plans are not included for scholarship players at Eggs. So, is he saying that $7k to Sumner was for groceries?

Lyons crowing makes me feel like he got a little extra during his college days.

This probably hasn't been brought up because, well, he wasn't good, but didn't Jermaine Lawrence have some shady handlers that Mick didn't like? Or am I thinking of Chris Obekpa? Or both?

I'd hardly call the SEC school where both Pistol Pete and Shaq went "2nd level."

LSU hasn't been relevant in basketball in many years. They are as irrelevant in basketball as Kentucky is in football.

RE: Appears some bball coaches are going to get arrested - InspectorHound - 02-26-2018 03:35 PM

#1 pick a few years ago. #3 recruiting class this year. Hardly irrelevant

Obekpa was the weirdest and most clearly corrupt recruitment of any player I've seen UC go after in awhile.
