The fix is in.

I've seen the Lions screwed over by the refs so many damn times. It's infuriating. Why do we continue to let the refs play refball? How was that not a touchdown????

If the same thing happened to the patriots or the cowboys, they would change the runoff rule tomorrow, but of course they would have never reversed the TD against the patriots or cowboys in the first place.

Couple other things though. The interference call against us, and the holding call before that were terrible calls too. And will someone explain why Caldwell always uses up timeouts when there is over three minutes left in the game? He does this every time, and it changes things because of that. If the lions score right away, it actually leaves time for our opponent to score, and that has happened before. There is no advantage to calling them too early.

The replay crew failed to put time back on the clock IF in fact he was down prior to the goalline. Tate was standing up 2 yards into the end zone when they stopped the clock at 0:08. Should've been 0:11 left at that point. 10 second runoff would've left 0:01 and a final play.

2 huge officiating mistakes during one long review. How bad can one crew be?

I won't attend, or watch, it.

Plenty of good college & high school ball, plus other things to do for less $ and without the NFL's pretension.

The NFL, and many of its players, think they are the center of the universe. However, they are rapidly becoming "Dead Man Walking."

Watching the replays today it appears that it was subjective as if Tate's knee actually hit the ground... when his knee comes in contact with the top of the grass (not actually down to the ground) he used his toes to propel himself into the endzone and his knee never dragged across the ground... no actual visual of turf movement... oh well... as a lions fan I am used to it...

That is part of it, but while I can't prove it, I'm convinced the games are fixed. Last year's Super Bowl smelled real bad and how can you explain what regularly happens to the Lions?

I've had *some* speculation about fixing as well. Seen too many strange, odd, questionable calls. Anyway, I stopped watching the NFL 3 years ago. My Sundays are better and absolutely no regrets.

Interesting take. But here in this screen shot, he's not quite down yet, and it's 11s left. Which would make one expect 10s when his knee hits, thus 0s left in the game:

Call on the field was a touchdown. Need to have indisputable evidence to overturn. It's not indisputable. If anything, his knee grazed the turf, but didn't make solid contact. Watch the video. The screenshot makes it look like he's falling on that knee when in reality his torso is going down, and his legs are going up. By the time he had secured the ball, it was across the goal line.

All of this makes it pretty indisputable. There's certain shots where he's bounced up and it looks similar where he's not touching. I can't complain about the call. I complain about Tate not squeezing more airborne effort in such a crucial play.

I don't think he had control of the ball until after he crossed the goal line, but...there's no use arguing it. It's over.

I personally don't like seeing these types of plays inside the 1 yard line. Line up in a power I formation and punch it in. Get a fullback in there. Or fake the handoff and find a TE in the endzone. QB sneak?? Something! If you're a professional football team and you can't punch it in from the 1...you don't deserve to win. The Lions were 1st and goal from the 1 yard line and couldn't get into the endzone after 3 tries. And not once did they try to power it up the middle. Put every big body on the line and lean forward....nope, didn't even try that once.
