Good for her but bummed for Tina and the team. We enjoyed dining with her the last year before and after the season at Assist Club events.

Coach Langley has had trouble holding onto her assistants. I suspect money is the overriding issue there but it's an unfortunate trend to be sure.

Maybe Coach Langley is the Nick Saban of WBB. Brutal to work for but a great coach? I don't know.

That probably is part of it but the Rice job has become a nice springboard to P5 assistant jobs. Rice to UCLA after only 1 year with Tina says a lot about how this program is viewed.

Yes but what happened to the male assistant from a year ago? Did he even stay in college coaching? Didn't the other assistant go to Colorado State last year? That's not P5.

Think it was Arizona State. It appears that Pac 12 assistant salaries are quite appealing.

Yes Angie went to Arizona State.

UCLA finished the year ranked #9 in the AP poll, so this really is a substantial step for Brown. I do think women's basketball is the sport we're most aggressive in targeting high ranked players, so I wouldn't be surprised if Brown is able to lure some 2019+ recruits to UCLA.

Just got a commitment from 2019 G Destiny Jackson. Plays at Mansfield-Timberview in Texas. Had offers from Louisiana Tech and a bunch of smaller Texas schools. We had 6 open scholarships (I think) at the beginning of the recruiting period, so we should have 4 left with Saprina Crothwait's commitment a while back.

RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting Thread - Fort Bend Owl - 08-21-2018 06:44 PM

I count 5 open scholarships (now 3).

Yep, I believe you're right. That's why I wasn't a math major.

Same school as Chris Mullins, and one of the top programs in Texas.

“Mansfield Timberview, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A, won the 15th annual Spring Creek Invitational on Friday night 49-34 against McKinney.

Virginia Commonwealth signee Lauryn Thompson led the way with a game-high 18 points, but it was junior guard Destiny Jackson who opened a few eyes.

Jackson was named tournament MVP. She led the Wolves in scoring during victories over Katy Thompkins (77-39) and 5A No. 5 Prosper (56-55).

“Feels really great to do it for my team and for myself,” Jackson said. “I’m happy we were able to end the year with a win.””

Just landed a commitment from 2019 F India Bellamy. 6-1 with offers from Ole Miss and Georgia Tech.

So looks like 2 more scholarships open.

3 star recruit (6-0 forward) out of Johns Creek, GA. We're doing well in Georgia.

This article mentions that at one point she was on ESPN's HoopGurlz 100 Watch List. At that point she was considering: Jacksonville State University, the University of Mississippi, Old Dominion University, Charleston Southern University, Georgia State University, La Salle University, the University of North Florida, Radford University, and California State University-Bakersfield.

Looks like the replacement for Olivia in 2019, assuming Olivia plays this coming season. Having said that, though currently listed as a Senior, didn't Olivia get a red shirt for last season and, consequently, could still have another year of eligibility?
