In my opinion, which isn’t worth much, we would do really well with this kid.

Larry Bird didn't have much speed either but he never slowed down!

Never heard of Larry Bird. Did he play for VCU ? 04-cheers

Quade Green leaving Kentucky and thinking about LaSalle. JJ needs to go after him ASAP.

Hahaha I know right and kid is from Philly. What in Gods green earth would make you think he would leave one of the most successful college programs and come to a team that hasnt sniffed the NCCAT in 7 years?!?!?

If you got that good good, pass it my way lmao.

He's not coming here, but it has nothing to do with not "sniffing the Dance in 7 years." If that was a criteria, he wouldn't be considering LaSalle, as we've had a better team than they've had for the past 5 years.

Yes, it's silly to suggest that we'd be in the mix for this kid, but it's also silly to suggest it is Jeff Jones' fault (which is exactly what is being insinuated).

I fully believe he already knew where he was heading after his meeting with Calipari. A lot of times, with these mutually-decided departures, the HC will assist in getting them in a good situation (if needed). They just can't/won't announce it until it's official.

So, it was reported the coaching staff was out recruiting early this week. Anyone now who we may have been looking at?

Why is it silly to suggest it though? The guy evidently is willing to play at a good mid-major. He's from the east coast. ODU is only 5 hours from Philly. We're usually better than LaSalle. Have some good young players and a bright future. A great arena and new practice facility. I would hope we'd be in the mix for guys of that description.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2019 - ODU_NYG - 12-14-2018 03:54 PM

Maybe he has HS buddies that play on the team and/or had a prior relationship with the coaching staff since he's a local kid. We're usually better than LaSalle, but its unlikely that kid knows very much about ODU.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2019 - Gilesfan - 12-14-2018 04:06 PM

Its not rocket science; sure check in on him, but if he's going to Lasalle its because he wants to go home.

I didn't say Green would consider ODU. I said it was in our best interest to at least reach out to him. I fail to see why talking to bluechip talent is such a preposterous concept? Or should we simply Aim Low?

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2019 - Razor Ramon Monarch - 12-15-2018 08:17 PM

Sure, call him.

And when he answers “new phone, who dis”, we move on lol.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2019 - Cyniclone - 12-15-2018 09:08 PM

La Salle has for years built their team on transfers. Sometimes, like in 2013 when they reached the Sweet 16, it works. Right now they're 0-10, so when it doesn't work, it REALLY doesn't work.

Possibly. But he didn't play a game this season, so I would hope he could play next fall.

I know ODU is applying for a waver so AJ can play next year, 3 full years of eligibility. This will be interesting ruling. Appears he did play briefly, very briefly in the exhibition game against Barton. Right after the exhibition game November 2 he announced he was going to transfer. Which way will this go? He deserves 3 full years at ODU since technically he is sitting out all 2018-19. I don’t have a clue.

We lost the exact same appeal with Donte Hill a few years ago who also came from Clemson I believe.

We did but the environment has changed so much in regards to waivers that we can't assume the same outcome will occur.

Very true. Unfortunately, I would be extremely surprised if we here the NCAA's verdict before October 2019.
