I don't really get these. Play on the ESPN thing but what do they mean

I think it's smart. Celebrating the fact many of the coaches were players at NIU. I think that says a lot about the program that so many of our good athletes came back to coach.

Likewise it's also a good way of reminding people of their successes i.e. Lynch isn't just the rb coach but was a heisman finalist.

I'd like to see more of this type of advertising.

But with the ESPN format, I assumed these would try and be humorous. It might be me but the humor went over my head. Maybe I have trouble seeing it because of the ESPN format, the ESPN that has all but destroyed MAC football and our fanbases

Agree. Nicely done NIU.

+1. A refreshing change.

I love the concept, however the execution was poor. The scripts aren't funny and they need to be. Even though they are spoofing/copying the ESPN marketing campaign, it still feels kind of hip and fresh to me. I just hope that we get a little better writing going forward

If the NIU theater students tried to play football, they probably would not do that well either.

Now I wait for someone to find a player majoring in theater and saying, "Hey! What about him?".

I don't expect top notch acting from the football players. The pro athletes in the SportsCenter commercials aren't exactly lighting up the screen with their acting chops.

I do expect, if you are going to go through with the expense of producing these commercials, that our marketing team would develop much stronger scripts before the commercial is green-lighted.
