The funny thing about Married...With Children - C2__ - 06-26-2017 05:55 AM

Al Bundy repeatedly said he once scored 4 touchdowns in one game. He didn't dominate or win a district championship or state title. He said he did it in one game, the highlight of his life.

It's even funnier when you think about it a little deeper.

Actually the game he scored the 4 TDs in was for the "city championship". Also, he also held the record for most TDs at Polk High in a season, we learned that in the episode where Kelly becomes a cheerleader. Kelly, trying to garner the affection of a disinterested player, runs onto the field and tackles the guy short of the goal line as he is about to break Al's season record.

Bottom line, there's not a lot to read into here. For Al Bundy, his glory days ended with high school ball. To him, his life as a shoe salesman (married with children) is a disappointment.

Gotcha, I stand corrected.

I found the show very mildly amusing back in the day but never got into it and maybe watched a grand total of 5 episodes.

I am surprised that they never made a movie about the show? Who knows maybe it's on the horizon!!!

They could call it "Married with Great-Grandchildren".

That's a thing. Fan sites are pushing for it. Would love to see it.

I loved Married with Children. It was one of my favorite shows. And you are correct. The 4 TDs occurred in the city championship. By all suggestions from other episodes, Al enjoyed overall success on the high school football field. After high school was a different story.

On a related note... I believe I still have the distinction of being the only player in the history of my school to receive a 15 yard unnecessary roughness penalty for hitting another player on my team.

I personally liked him going down in Little Giants, granted that wasn't Al Bundy.

Do elaborate.

Simple story really... 25 years ago our weak side DE (I will protect the guilty and not give a name) missed a routine tackle that cost us the lead with under 4 minutes in the 4th quarter. After the play was over, I ran over and knocked him on the ground and told him to do his job or get off the field. Refs threw flags and walked it off on the kickoff.
