As I stated on the Aggie board, I think Jans should go the grad transfer route and just find enough talent to help our team nucleus, Harris, Ndir, and Chuha; a one year quick fix. Then focus on the 2018 class to land our next generation of star Aggie players.
The lose of Dickerson to Georgetown is a bummer but their are other D1 transfers pickups who could make an impact this coming season.
Surprised you don't list Jemerrio as a nucleus guy. Is it just because next season is his last and the other 3 will be around longer? Of the players believed to be returning at this point, I think J. Jones has the highest ceiling.

If Pennie feels he still has something to prove, Aggie fans could see his numbers jump up considerably in his Senior season. He is a very good athlete and actually fairly skilled. He just lost confidence being shoved to the end of Weir's bench most of last season. Although Pennie will need to get mentally tougher if he wants to impress Jans.

There are some players who can generate their own offense with the structure of a offense...Ndir, Chuha, Harris, Jemerrio Jones. And, then there are other players who need set plays to give them open looks to score. Wilkins and Pennie need specific plays designed for them to score consistently. I think Wilkins and Pennie's scoring can go up with Coach Jans help.

Agree about Pennie. Vehemently disagree about Wilkins. He has been a starter most of his career and at this point "he is who he is". He will never be a rebounder. He will never play sufficient defense. He did increase his blocks this year but 29 blocks for a man is size is a joke (Taylor and Jones had 21 and 25 respectively). He did develop a 3-point shot but 11 made threes is not setting the world on fire.

The problem is, Jonathan Wilkins isn't a 5. That is why he has struggled. If he played his natural position, I think you will see a big difference. You can't make someone something that they aren't just because they are 6'10.

He can get rattled. 33% from the field, 25% from behind the arc, and 0-4 from the charity stripe, in one of the best crowd environments in the NCAA.

It was easy to silence them when most of the places were half to two thirds full. Packed stadiums they were not.

Check the tape again then. They were definitely all more than half full especially UTA. That place was sold out and loud. They were undefeated at home until we beat them.

I also seem to recall Ian Baker and Dewayne Russel sucking immensely when they came to Bakersfield.
Russell 1-12 and Baker 4-20.
Maybe they struggle against hostile crowds as well. Hmmm makes you think (big if true).

You would be correct that DeWayne went 1-12 in that game, but he was 8-10 from the line rather than a big ole goose egg. Also, everyone as a whole struggled that night, both teams were under 30% in the game.
