Rendon having massive game for Nats - Fort Bend Owl - 04-30-2017 03:31 PM

It's only the 7th inning but so far today Anthony Rendon is 4-4 with 3 runs, a single, double, two homers and 9 RBI! All of a sudden after a slow start, he's hitting .261 with the two homers and 14 RBI for the month of April. That may not sound like much but he had all of 1 RBI last April (and he ended up with 20 homers and 85 RBI last year).

RE: Rendon having massive game for Nats - Fort Bend Owl - 04-30-2017 03:37 PM

And he just singled to left to make it 5-5 for the day. Murphy was on 2nd at the time but he stopped at third so no RBI #10. 01-wingedeagle

Nats lead 15-5 and counting. Their offense this year despite losing Eaton the other day to a season-ending ACL is scary good. And that was with AR struggling.

RE: Rendon having massive game for Nats - Fort Bend Owl - 04-30-2017 03:50 PM

Nats score 4 more so it's 19-5 now. Rendon bats 4th in the bottom of the 8th so he may get one more at-bat.

Another homer in 8th! 3 homers and 10 RBI on the day. Holy cow. BTW the Nats now lead 23-5.

And 6-6 at the plate -- only a triple shy of a cycle

RE: Rendon having massive game for Nats - Fort Bend Owl - 04-30-2017 04:08 PM

The last homer was off the Mets back-up catcher.

He becomes the 2nd player in MLB history to have 6 hits, 5 runs, 3 homers and 10 RBI in a game. The only other person to do it was Walker Cooper for Cincinnati vs. the Cubs back in 1949. He also has set (or tied) a ton of Washington Nationals team single-game records.

Another fun story. Check out his interview after the game - the reporter asks him if there is anything he can do to comment on his offensive game and AR says 'No.'

I've been with Anthony quite a few times, and he's never talked about himself.

The results speak for themselves.

With a hit in the first inning today he's now 7 for his last 7!

There isn't really a good place for this question but I don't know if it deserves its own thread...

Does anybody know where I can watch a full length recording of Game 3 of championship series of '03 Season? You can find a lot of old, classic football games on YouTube but no luck so far with baseball.

Pretty sure I have it (and Games 1 and 2) recorded on DVD, gathering dust on a basement shelf. I thought DVD recorders were the wave of the future at the time. I was wrong on that one as DVRs became ubiquitous soon thereafter, although that means that when my DVR conked out last spring I lost the last two innings of Humber's perfect game that I had kept on there for 4 years, whereas I still have and will forever have (barring catastrophe) a DVD recording of Game 3. Whether it is readable by today's DVD players, no idea.

I don't have experience with expected lifetime of the DVD media is, but I was surprised that it was not more permanent. Here is a random webpage that google gave to me. You might want to check whether the device that wrote it can still read it (in my first year out of school, we used streaming tape drives... they were like a large cassette tape with a steel plate on the bottom. We had trouble reading the tape on a device at a customer site and I wound up calling the tape drive's manufacturer, and they indicated that they could not support writing data on one drive and reading on another because the head alignment could be somewhat different. That was a shock to me and an introduction to WORM and WORN media... write-once-read-many or write-once-read-never).

I was in Omaha for Game 2 but had to be back at work in Chicago on the Monday that Game 3 was played on, so that night as I watched at home I recorded it - on DVD-R straight off ESPN using a DVD recorder (that is likely in a landfill or being used as a doorstop somewhere). But I just popped the disc into a Blu-Ray player and it played fine (although it is in standard def of course). Windows Media Player can also play it. The files on the disc are .VOB, .IFO & .BUP so I think they would need to be converted to something else before it could be uploaded to YouTube. Which is probably a good idea if the discs are not as permanent as I was led to believe!

Rendon another 3-4 tonight with a homer and two RBI. Even some of his outs this week have been hit hard. He's up to .288 on the season now.

RE: Rendon having massive game for Nats - Fort Bend Owl - 05-23-2017 09:16 PM

Another good game. 3x4, 2 HR and a double and 5 RBI. Kris Bryant will probably be the All Star 3B for the NL (or possibly Justin Turner of the Dodgers) but Rendon might end up having better numbers than both.
