Greetings everyone. Part of the original deal I struck with SCC way back when MT.org first came aboard was that I would give him great leeway in moderation. Well, real life has since taken him (and Derby) away from the site. Things have gotten unnecessarily nasty here, due in part to their real life obligations leaving a bit of vacuum on the site. In concert with the unanimous support of the MT.org moderation, I'm launching a full scale weapons grade cleanup here.

CHANGES:
- Users will be given a ONE TIME AMNESTY. With the exception of those who have engaged in direct personal threats against members. Those people are gone without exception. Those wanting previously banned accounts restored under this one time amnesty should email me ... gts@csnbbs.com
- The use of aliases will be SEVERELY cut back. The point of aliases is to allow for humor based alt accounts or to provide anonymity for those in sensitive places (we have people posting from athletic departments at nearly every major team board. And I've been asked more than once to turn over identifying information about those posters directly by AD personnel. I of course refuse to do so. :D )
--- If you use an alias to engage in trolling, attacking posters, or otherwise be a ******* ... you will be dealt with severely. First offense is a one month ban on the alias account. Second offense is a permaban of ALL accounts. THE ALIAS ABUSE STOPS NOW. AND IT STOPS COMPLETELY.
- I'll much more thoroughly vet new registrations ... this is admittedly a time consuming PITA without Aurora done yet, and will slow down my work on Aurora, which is why I've checked registrations by hand thus far but not super thoroughly. This is changing now. There is now a co-operative list maintained globally site wide by the moderators of all the problem children and all their methods of access. Attempting to circumvent bans by registration of additional accounts will result in a DOUBLING of the existing ban for the first offense and a PERMANENT BAN FOR ALL ACCOUNTS for any offense thereafter.
- Light transgressions get the post unapproved ... or if the thread was derailed it gets split and moved to a smack board if necessary
- Serious transgressions start with a PM to the poster explaining why what they did was not OK before punishment starts.
- Repeat offenders are punished much more aggressively.
- People griping about moderation publicly are RUTHLESSLY dealt with. I'm talking about a sitewide ban for the first offense of a couple of days.
- Moderation will remain neutral to positions taken on Memphis athletic staff and coaches. But attacks on student athletes themselves will be frowned upon. I might suggest you have your life priorities severely f*cked up when you're consumed with the dealings of an 18 year old trying to juggle school, sports, family, relationships, and, if they're very talented, the onslaught of gold diggers trying to take advantage of them.
- Referring to people by their real name and/or place or work and/or any other direct personal reference, unless they explicitly authorized it, will result in aggressive punishment depending upon the severity up to and including permanent ban for first offense.
- The Memphis political board will be folded into The Spin Room.
- Except in the case of the above rules, people are banned in the following stages:
--- Site wide short ban (2-4 days)
--- Forum ban for a longer time (weeks to a month)
--- Forum ban for a long time (months)
--- Permanent forum ban

If they instigate on other forums while being forum ban, they're auto-upgraded to a site wide ban.

In general, being a d*ck will be much more aggressively frowned upon. There are several people here who are quite talented at skirting the letter of the law but publicly flouting the spirit of it. These people will be dealt with accordingly now.

In addition, there are changes to moderation itself. For starters, the following inactive mods are removed effective immediately:
- Triple-T
- staciemontero
- Derby

There will be an election for new moderators. We want you, the community, to have a direct say in the future of moderation through electing additional moderators. To nominate somebody to be a mod, post a reply to this thread nominating them. YOU CANNOT NOMINATE YOURSELF. They must post in this thread that they accept their nomination. If necessary, we'll go to an election, but generally consensus builds around 1-3 to people. GTS and Mike retain veto powers in case you guys try to get all Vermin Supreme up in here.

Lastly ... GTS will be moderating MT.org directly. Supermods may also be moderating MT.org directly until additional moderators have been added.

You are welcome to discuss these changes CONSTRUCTIVELY in this thread, as well as nominate new moderators. Non-constructive discourse will be removed.

If you have questions/concerns/comments you do not wish to discuss publicly, you may address them to me directly via PM.

Bump for public publishing.

And, before anyone asks - gts is not taking over MT.org. The Memphis mods will still be active, but there's a need for a cleanup and all of the Memphis mods are in agreement with this approach.

[REDACTED]

You may be right about what you said, but you are also ascribing poor motives by publicly saying them. If you really want me to know about this sort of thing, then PM it to me. -GTS

If nominated I will not run; if elected I will not serve. However I'm full of advice.

Duly noted, lol.

I've been on every flavor of MT.org since the Calipari hire. I have watched this place go from the best conduit in town to a colossal failure to thrive. I am so excited to see this today. I hope we can get back all the good posters who have given up on it over the years as a result. Thanks GTS and Go Tigers!

Well done. Maybe we can go back after all.

I'm not sure those aren't some of the troll aliases that this is intended to thwart.

Can I be mod just to get rid of NASCAR guy?

RE: >>>>> THE GREAT MT.ORG CLEANUP <<<<< - oldmangrizz - 04-11-2017 03:05 PM

I will vote for anyone that agrees to never ban me, or anyone that is receptive to bribes, or both.
