I don't know about a reveal party, but I do know that the announcement of the 2018 schedule will be given a ton of attention on campus. I just have no idea when that will occur.

From my point of view, I'd like for us to play a school from each conference each year with the remaining two games against independents. That would combine for a nice range of quality opponents with nationwide exposure.

Good luck pulling that off

I'm good with playing the indies every season and then sprinkling in the others. If we post some nice looking schedules for the next two seasons, I suspect that will encourage some overbudgeted FCS schools to consider following us down the indy path. Everyone fears filling the dates right now. I'll bet Idaho is feeling really silly about now.

That would be great for sure, and quite a challenging schedule. At this point, I'm just happy to be where we are. I want to play the academies, the regional teams close to us (in state and boarder states), the SEC/ACC, and teams from FL, TX, CA.

Would be nice to move the Wake game and get Army to Lynchburg Sept 8th for our FBS home opener in the new stadium?

Yep, that would be cool. I'd expect we try for a home game on 1 Sep. Maybe that'll be the big one... the big name.

RE: Congrats on your first FBS H/H - GE and MTS - 05-05-2017 09:07 PM

Is it more important to have a big name come in as our first home opener in FBS or is it more important to have a winnable game? We may be breaking in a new head coach at that time.

I would say winnable but name recognizable. Someone like Army, ODU or Marshall would be a good first FBS home game. Known well to the fan base but still winnable.

If my choices are Army, ODU or Marshall, it's hands down Army just because of their tradition and national following. I expect the LU admins to make a really big deal of the first FBS game, as they should.

Regardless of schedules already being filled, if I chose the home opener it would come from the following.....
Army
Navy
Air Force
ODU
Coastal
App St.
UVa
VT
BYU

If I could chose one other slot it would be in one if these time slots.....

Thu. 23 NOV - ODU vs. Liberty
Fri. 24 NOV - ODU vs. Liberty
(Fri. 24 NOV - Va. Tech vs. Virginia)
Sat. 25 NOV - ODU vs. Liberty

As an FAU fan who lost their first home game in their brand new stadium 20-0 to WKU , get a creampuff but a creampuff people have heard of.

One thing I did not realize, Liberty may count an FCS team as a home FBS game if they meet the criteria.

http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/AMA/Division%20I%20Forms/2010-11%20FBS%20Forms/Football%20Bowl%20Subqa%2012%208%2010.pdf

I know Liberty wants as many FBS at home as possible, but that is nice thing to have in your back pocket knowing the magic number is realy 4.

I think that is in regards to a 12 game schedule. They still need 5 fbs home games.
