It is true. This should be a hire that keeps most of the team from transferring. I know Rowan said he would wait to see who was hired. Someone pointed out recently that a coaching change (as long as you feel good about the new guy) is better than a transfer. You get a restart / fresh look from the coaching staff and you don't have to sit out a year.

It's never a sure thing with these changes but I think this is a good hire for the Pack. He was well liked and respected during his time in Louisville and has done quite well at UNCW.
As for Rowan and considering options, Louisville was a finalist in his recruitment. If it matters at all to he and his family, I would think the fact that Keatts is a Pitino protege and that the two are still close (Rick says he discussed the opening with Kevin this morning) would be a positive in Maverick staying at State.

The young Turk has put his name in for the draft but as poor as he played this year I can't imagine his stock is high enough to leave. He didn't hire an agent so maybe he returns. It would be foolish to sit out a year for him. He could just go back to Turkey and play pro there until he is ready for the NBA. Abu is almost certainly going pro and of course Smith is gone. If the freshman will stay that will very big.

Yow may have learned something from earlier searches about controlling the flow of information. This one was handled well. That was important for the psyche of Pack fans.
