Sun Belt Softball - CajunAmos - 03-13-2017 03:43 PM

Since the Cajuns and Mountaineers got snowed out this past weekend, I looked up who played and the results and there were some surprises.

Worst 3 game series USA has had in a very long time. Even worse than the performance against Texas State last year. Pitching was abnormally bad, hitting was even worse. Curious to see how this team rebounds after a rough weekend. We still have a really young team and I hope they can put this weekend behind them and move on and not let these games beat them again.

GSU is a good team. We might not have played well, but we have to give them credit. They did what it took to not only win the series but sweep us. Maybe the ladies needed a wake-up call. You can't win every game by having good pitching. At some point you need offense. Not getting a hit until the last inning in game one isn't the pitcher's fault.

They were good no doubt, but we don't typically get 1 hit and run ruled in back to back games. Our pitching doesn't give up that many runs in a series. We didn't play well and they did, that was my point.

The Cajuns have had some "not great" losses this year (Southern Miss twice, Bradley) which I think will happen in conference as well. You can't lose 61 home runs and 193 RBI and not feel it. I'm hoping our hitting will become more consistent as the year goes on and all the new faces get used to D1 pitching. The surprise to me so far is our most consistent pitcher has probably been true freshman Alyssa Denham. It's not that Alex Stewart has been bad, but she hasn't shown the control that she had with such consistency last year.

USA is not playing for 3rd in the SBC this season. Texas State and ULL are playing for 1 and 2.

Bobcats blank Houston 7-0. . . another good outing for Rupp.

Now 17-4 on the year . ... .

It wouldn't surprise me if you win the series this weekend.

Just saw a tweet from Cajun athletics that our softball team averaged 2,010 in ticket sales for the 15 home dates this year. Thanks for being in that number.
