Greensboro set to invade Syracuse/Boeheim - XLance - 03-13-2017 04:27 AM

Well someone on the NIT selection committee has a since of humor. They scheduled UNC-Greensboro (co-champions of the Southern Conference) to play at Syracuse on Tuesday night at 7.
The Spartans (25-9) were beaten in the Southern Conference Tournament finals by ETSU.
So we now have round 2: Greensboro vs. Boeheim

RE: Greensboro set to invade Syracuse/Boeheim - ken d - 03-13-2017 08:35 AM

Well, if you can't bring Boeheim to Greensboro, bring Greensboro to Boeheim.

I'm sure this was just random luck of the draw, since we know the selection committees never try to arrange pairings. It was also fortuitous that Northern Kentucky gets to play Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast drew Florida State.

Ken these were all random seeding occurrences...surely you don't think the NCAA/NIT would do something like what you're saying. 03-lmfao

We actually had a poster on the syracuse boards that predicted that if we didn't make the tourney this would happen. 03-lmfao

I hope UNCG beats the snot out of em, and then tells him, "hey, it's just business."

Of course..that is what the NIT is banking on...more viewers for ESPN.

That's actually really funny. I wonder how ratings will shakeout in NC.

Well wouldn't you know it, the Syracuse Chiefs have countered the Greensboro Grasshoppers promotion with a Jim Boeheim VALUE night.
http://www.syracuse.com/chiefs/index.ssf/2017/03/syracuse_chiefs_back_jim_boeheim_in_response_to_greensboro_grasshoppers_diss.html

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse Chiefs believe Jim Boeheim carries a lot of value, and the baseball team will show its support of him April 7.

That's when the Chiefs will hold a "Jim Boeheim Added-Value Night'' during its game against Rochester at NBT Bank Stadium.

Among the Chiefs' offerings:

Post-game fireworks show
A portion of the 50/50 raffle and $1 of every ticket sold for that night will be donated to the Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation
T-shirt giveaway for the first 1000+ fans, the total number of giveaways will equal Jim Boeheim's total career wins to date.
Beer specials in honor of National Beer Day
Jim Boeheim look-alike contest during the game, the winner will receive a family four pack to a future game in 2017.
Free admission for fans with a valid North Carolina ID

BTW the Syracuse Chiefs have one of, if not the lowest attendance in AAA while the Grasshoppers have one of the best attendance records in Single A ball (the 'Hoppers average a little over 100,000 more fans per year than the Chiefs).

Anything for a buck.

I don't like Jim Boeheim, at all. I have nothing against UNC-Greensboro.

That said, I hope Syracuse wins by 25 points.

Bad bet for the Chiefs...game is too weather dependent.

It would be great if this turned into an actual minor league baseball rivalry.

So UNCG is spending an extra day or two in Syracuse. I'm assuming the game will be Wednesday night. This gives them time to check out the sights and sounds of upstate NY. Maybe they can rate a few restaurants. I'm hoping they have Cracker Barrel, IHOP, Denny's and Waffle House like all destinations cities, Greensboro being our best example. [OK HAND SIGN]

I'm told Syracuse has exotic foods like hot chicken wings, pizza, and barbecue. Stuff you just can't get in Greensboro... or so I'm told.

Well, they do have snow!
There is no snow in Greensboro.

The pizza and wings are markedly better. The BBQ is markedly worse. The Dino is bad to average, despite insane amounts of hype.

But the exotic foods would probably consist more of things like chicken speidies and salt potatos.

Probably stuck in the hotel...nearly 2 feet of snow fell.

We don't have Waffle Houses here...

We have more local diners like Mother's Cupboard

And Stella's Menu

Disagree...Dinosaur is really good at what they do. It is a tourist spot now...but they deliver.

Italian Food, Irish Pubs deliver in Cuse.

Italian Sausage and Coneys blows away anything found in NC. Brightleaf are horrible red dyed cancer sticks.

I do love all the varieties of Carolina Q...

How dare you insult Brightleaf hotdogs and red hots! They are far superior to those pale, bland things that pass for nourishment elsewhere. And for the record the red food coloring is not the cancer causing one. Cardiovascular disease I'll own up too, but don't put the Big C on em!

No Waffle House! Okay don't ever promote Upstate NY for its food choices again. At least if alcohol [BEER MUG] is included in the equation. Waffle House is the late night drinking man's best friend.

Hot chicken wings = fried chicken with Texas Pete splashed on em. Not exactly something requiring Vivian Howard to create.[VICTORY HAND]️
