Georgia State will play in it as well, traveling to A&M-Corpus Christi

RE: TXST MBB heading to CIT - chiefsfan - 03-12-2017 08:42 PM

UTA is a 6 seed in the NIT and will travel to BYU. Winner likely travels to Houston.

Better beat Lamar

RE: Georgia State and TXST MBB heading to CIT - bokobobcat1919 - 03-12-2017 08:54 PM

Doesn't appear to be any seeding in the first round. Anyone know how these brackets are put together?

They aren't. If you win you play whoever makes the most logical sense out of the other winners.

Idaho is in this too. This is our 4th time in this stupid tournament. I'm pretty sure we lead the NCAA in CIT tournament participation ribbons.

Gotcha...

Postseason basketball is an ultra-rare event for us.

I thought you guys had money problems.

Either way, good luck.

Glad for our Seniors .. . 02-13-banana The experience may pay dividends for our returning players down the line . . .

Thanks. I'm as surprised as you are that an athletic department currently begging the state for $4 million in bailout money is hosting a game in a pay-to-play basketball tournament.

Last time we had a CIT home game one of our boosters put up all the money (see, we do pay for stuff when asked. We just don't usually get asked). I'm guessing that happened again here.

Source for CCU? Haven't seen it anywhere.

ESPN website says CCU is playing Hampton Wednesday in the CBI tourney

RE: Sun Belt MBB postseason - GaSoEagle - 03-12-2017 10:44 PM

Overwhelmingly on our board the sentiment is why are we bothering to play in he CBI. It has been a looong time since GS basketball has had any postseason so I guess I say why not

RE: Sun Belt MBB postseason - chiefsfan - 03-12-2017 11:23 PM

We're the only team in the Top 7 not playing in postseason, looking at the stupidity of some of these fields, I'm glad we chose to stay out.

RE: Sun Belt MBB postseason - SouthJags2012 - 03-13-2017 01:15 AM

If you have a majority freshman sophomore team then I think these tournaments are very helpful. But if you are a senior laden team and just want to send the seniors out in a tournament, then I think it's foolish. I know South accepted a CBI invitation a couple of years ago. They played at Tulane but if it was a home game I highly doubt I would have dropped everything and went to it.

Or if your basketball program hasn't been to the postseason in 20 years. :-p

Everyone views it differently. To me I would not be very excited about it. That's just me.

RE: Sun Belt MBB postseason - boroeagle2 - 03-13-2017 06:56 AM

GS fan here, this is stupid and I wish we were not participating.

RE: Sun Belt MBB postseason - slycat - 03-13-2017 09:13 AM

If the players are excited then thats cool. It doesn't really register at all on my radar. I would say it's better than nothing but looking at the field it is not very exciting.

RE: Sun Belt MBB postseason - BirdofParadise - 03-13-2017 09:33 AM

THe Cajuns (who were the #7 seed) opted out of the CIT because of injuries to Jay Wright and Bryce Washington. Neither would have played had they accepted.
