Sun Belt football schedule released today - T-Dog - 03-01-2017 01:44 AM

Today's the day. And unlike last year, it will be released on March 1st.

So many questions that need answering.

-Will Coastal'a first Sun Belt game be at home versus Georgia State in Week 2 like Chants fans believe?
-Who will get the most non-Saturday games and why is it Arkansas State?
-Which Thursday will App State beat up Georgia Southern on?
-Who gets the Tuesday/Wednesday games?
-Who will have the worst Saturday-to-Thursday turnaround?
-How many radio interviews will Terry Mohajir give to calm down infuriated stAte fans after this schedule release?
-With no Georgia Dome to schedule around, will we get 100% of the schedule released?
-Will the Sun Belt schedule feature games during the last week in hopes of getting them on main ESPN channels?
-Who will have a stupid 4-week break between home games?
-Will Mark Hudspeth hire Sacagawea to travel to App State this year?

All good questions.

We hate everything and everyone so don't be surprised if it's us.

RE: Sun Belt football schedule released today - stAte3 - 03-01-2017 08:15 AM

It definitely won't be App since they already know they don't have to play Troy or Arkansas State.

I wish I could give two points because this post is fantastic!

basically. that's why I voted for us.

RE: Sun Belt football schedule released today - eaglewraith - 03-01-2017 09:02 AM

I have a feeling we're going to get dicked with multiple midweek home games again.

It wasn't fun only having 3 Saturday home games last year, with only 1 of them after September.

I like the exposure TV gives us, but we can't keep carrying the conference in that regard.

RE: Sun Belt football schedule released today - TrueBlueDrew - 03-01-2017 09:06 AM

I'll go ahead and make my prediction for us:
9/2 - @ Auburn
9/9 - New Hampshire
9/16 - South Alabama
9/23 - @ Indiana
9/28 - @ APP (Thursday)
10/11 - Ark State (Wednesday)
10/21 - @ UMASS
10/28 - NMSU
11/2 - @ ULL (Thursday)
11/11 - @ Troy
11/25 - @ Coastal
12/2 - Ga State

They usually pick successful teams from the prior year so it shouldn't be that bad for GS in 2017.

The ideal schedule for App would be two mid-week games, GS at home on a Thursday (unavoidable mid-week clash) and @ Idaho on a Tuesday (toughest/longest road game with extra time before and after).

My head says we get two Thursday night games like we did in 2015.

I think our games are still doing well ratings wise, and then we had to show out and beat Troy on a main ESPN network to end the season.

Even with the way the season went I wouldn't be surprised to see us in that situation again.

Likely our game with stAte is going to be one of the Wed games as well.

South Alabama doesn't have an open date on the 16th.

RE: Sun Belt football schedule released today - TroyFootball05 - 03-01-2017 09:20 AM

At South Alabama (SAT)
At Arkansas State (THURS)

Lets hope for the board's sake these two aren't back to back for Troy.

RE: Sun Belt football schedule released today - EigenEagle - 03-01-2017 09:26 AM

I'm going to go with the homer vote...no home FBS non-conference games and ESPN will probably feel the need to show Paulson Stadium on television at least twice, leaving us with 3 Saturday home games.

Just guesses:

We'll probably have Ark State at home on a weekday and App away on a weekday.

I also think we'll have Georgia State at home on championship Saturday on an ESPN network, just like the Troy game.

you better hope your prediction isn't right, having Indiana, App, and Ark State in a row and 2 out of 3 on the road is a suicide schedule.

RE: Sun Belt football schedule released today - Hemi Man - 03-01-2017 09:32 AM

I predict two midweek home games for Troy. One an obvious choice and the other kind of a shock.

Well, we've had a couple of unexpected weekday home games (like Troy in 2014 and Texas State in 2015). South Alabama is the one I suspect could be the second weekday game this year.

Conference office must be sleeping in this morning.

RE: Sun Belt football schedule released today - arkstfan - 03-01-2017 09:36 AM

AState will only have one home and one away game on a weeknight in league play but we may hate it just to be consistent.
