RE: 2018 Official Football Recruiting Thread - UTDE - 01-17-2018 02:48 PM

Nick Holly from Kent, tremendous athlete, was asked to join the Football team as DB. I suppose that means he left Kent and could get a 6th year.

Interesting for sure on Holley... thanks for posting!

Go Rockets!

I had to look it up for clarification, but of the two Holly Brothers. Nate was the LB/SS who was kicked off KSU for kidnapping a girl, but then the charges were dropped. He had NFL potential but that vaporized when he got in trouble. I heard he spent last year training for an NFL shot, but to my knowledge he hasn't been picked up?

Nick was the KSU senior starting QB who missed almost all of last season with a knee injury, but who also excelled on special teams as a freshman, lead the team in rushing as a sophomore , already lost his junior year to a medical redshirt and who I'm assuming wants to come to us as a 5th year transfer?

I mean UCLA is UCLA. Great school, beautiful people, weather, social life, etc... Their football has been here and there but does play big games and the Rose Bowl is their home field. Jolly has had other good offers that he turned down, so no guarantee that UCLA gets him.

Great news about Koback, welcome home. Now we play the waiting game to see whether his waiver gets approved to play immediately next season (due to family hardships).

RE: 2018 Official Football Recruiting Thread - inductchuck16 - 01-18-2018 12:07 AM

Can someone with the authority please pin this thread? I'm not just saying that because I started it lol but with signing day coming up, this thread is all about the future of Rocket football...and we all love our Rocket football.

RE: 2018 Official Football Recruiting Thread - DetroitRocket - 01-18-2018 04:05 AM

Anyone know the status of the five commits we had that didn't sign early? They were never mentioned in any media that I saw.

2018 Official Football Recruiting Thread - Rocketand2nuts - 01-18-2018 07:49 AM

I'm sure seeing that a Toledo back can make it to the NFL and lead the league in rushing, makes it easier for Koback and other RBs want to decide to come to Toledo.

Hampton is still supposed to have an official visit to UT this weekend. Haven't heard anything about the others.

He was probably coached by our defensive co-ordinator who came to us from Kent State. That is a nice pick-up if it is true ( I'm always skeptical on these types of things)

Then there are the taxes, businesses fleeing, highest poverty level in the country, schools with the 48th ranking for reading and math, etc. etc. etc. This is not the California from the Beach Boy songs. Now it is more like Rio de Janeiro - favelas and all.

California is a dump.

They are a warm dump and a hot mess year 'round. Toledo is frozen for 3 months, cold for 2 months, warm for 4 months, and hot for 3 months. Change of seasons is wonderful, but not when it is measured by the visibility from smog or smoke from the state catching on fire.

Yeah but at least there you can buy a two car garage for only $200K AND ride it down the side of a mountain.

Seriously, those things affect the normal day to day minimally. -2 degrees hits everyone in the balls 24-7. Though I wouldn't swap. It's the massive number of people and the traffic jams I could do without. Funny thing, in the mind it's so perfect there (as a young) I took three job interviews (San Diego, LA and Silicon) thinking somehow I'd like it this time.

For a young person, it is a very nice place.

Having lived there for over 9 years (all through my 20’s), I can definitely say LA has a lot to offer, and you can get the best of both worlds during the winter months (skiing & the beaches).
Westwood/Brentwood area is damn nice but pricey...
