Jackson on why he committed to Toledo:

"The offense fits me perfectly. I have a strong connection with the coaches I feel comfortable on the campus."

what a highlight reel. it's like corey jones and dri archer had a love child and he just committed to the rockets.

03-thumbsup Love the comparison!

Impressive. An early 3 star commit we will probably have to work on to keep. Looks bigger on tape.

He's either playing against midgets or that height is wrong or the video is distorted.

i always wanted to have one game where everyone else was a midget and I became physically dominant at 5-9

Sort of O/T: Remember Jessie Bates III? The former 2015 Rocket verbal commit who spurned us for Wake Forest. Turns out we missed out on a great one. In his RS freshman year this past season, he earned freshman All-American honors. He was the team's 2nd leading tackler & had 5 INTs. http://www.wakeforestsports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/121216aaa.html Don't mean to bring back any bad memories but things like this really get to me. What could have been!

Don't give up hope. The right mushrooms and the right Tom Petty album and you could see that.

24/7 Also showing Toledo picked up ILB Solomon Egbe, 6 ft. 0 in. 220 pounds, from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia yesterday.

Must have some smarts, he has numerous offers from ivy league schools.....

RE: 2018 Official Football Recruiting Thread - Boca Rocket - 05-06-2017 07:23 AM

Rockets got another 3 Star ILB commit, Jackson Barrow.

RE: 2018 Official Football Recruiting Thread - IamN2daRockets! - 05-11-2017 12:54 PM

Solomon Egbe (Grayson GA ILB) officially committed to UT today via his twitter account. That's 2 ILB's for 2018. Let's lock 'em down. I sincerely hope that UT can hold onto these guys since we definitely need LB's and especially ILB's. i'm sure that the lack of depth at LB is now appealing to many players which has resulted in two early verbals. UT is super aggressively recruiting Deandre Fitz-Henley another highly rated ILB from Clearwater FL.

Go Rockets!!!!

And so it begins, the first decommitment of the 2018 class. Jackson recently received an offer from that school down south we've beaten 2 out of the past 3 times (Cincy). Was "committed" to UT for not even 3 months, wow.

I thought seriously about attending OU, but when I finally decided to go to UT I typed a notice saying "Going to UT! Respect my decision!", mimiographed a couple hundred copies and tacked them on telephone poles all over town. Like this kid, I also refused to take any questions, which in my case was pretty easy. This young man is really full of himself.

RE: 2018 Official Football Recruiting Thread - TampaRocket - 05-24-2017 07:25 AM

Most of these early commitments are just place holders for kids...they commit to ensure they have a spot, but bolt as soon as a perceived better offer comes along. With that being said, no offers are binding until the athlete signs...UT could just as easily pull the offer at any point, should they get a commit from a higher rated recruit. It's a tough business...Should be interesting to see what happens with the early signing period.

I'm hopeful that the early signing period will address some of this. I'm sad to see how much recruiting has changed over the past 25 years...I don't blame the athletes--they're working the system that treats them as a commodity--and college coaches who need to keep their jobs may as well be coaching "professional" teams with draft picks--and yet there's not much rational or objective about the recruiting process anymore. Not sure that really helps anyone involved.

this is why I was hoping for an earlier signing period than December of the players senior year, or 2 months before the regular day. Either a late spring (May) or Late Summer (August) period would benefit MAC schools. This current new "early" period doesn't do anything to help the exodus of committed players in December through February, let alone over the summer. Bigger schools/conferences pushed for this to allow for Senior evaluations to be done before these Juniors who are committing can be signed.

OU missed out on a good one! Glad you came to your senses.

You are most kind. OU hasn't won a MAC football championship since I decided to go to UT. I'd like to think there is a cause-effect relationship there.
