ULM @ App - Saint3333 - 11-17-2016 02:51 PM

Line opened at 27.5 down to 25.5 now, still too high IMO.

App will look to run the ball on a run defense that allows ~250 rushing yards/game. Cox has a chance to break the all-time rushing record with 138 yards, but I think he breaks that next week.

Senior day and it will be a cold one. High of 46, but winds 25-35 mph will have is feeling like mid-20's at kickoff and teens by the end of the game. Could see flurries as we leave.

When ULM arrives in Boone on Friday it will be 70 degrees.

Sounds like a good weekend to get sick.

Should be fun.

Saying some snow showers towards end of game, been a while since a good winter game. GSU 2 years ago I guess.

RE: ULM @ App - TroyFootball05 - 11-17-2016 04:53 PM

Normally I've wanted to take the over with APP because they tend to sell themselves short. In this case I think ULM has improved. Not nearly enough to beat APP, but I think they keep it close for a half, and might beat the spread by a field goal or something of that nature.

I think 27 is way too many points. Totally different team than played against UNM and A-State. New true freshman QB playing well and Thomas Koufie killing it at RB, rushing for 201 and 5 TD's against GSU. Team playing with a lot of confidence. All that said, App still wins, but we are getting better and will be closer than most think.

RE: ULM @ App - moehler - 11-17-2016 05:26 PM

glad the game is being played an hour earlier than normal, you want to see temps drops 15-20 degrees, in about 15 minutes, be in Boone at dusk in November.

RE: ULM @ App - SOT1977 - 11-17-2016 05:58 PM

If there was a time this season that ULM could pull off the upset then this is it. The team is confident and playing well but it's late in the season for that. All we can do at this time is hope to ruin somebody's day these last couple of games. The dim glow of bowl eligibility is still on the horizon.

But we're still facing a pretty big IF.....

RE: ULM @ App - moehler - 11-17-2016 07:02 PM

not sure what the mindset of Apps players will be, I think this will be one of the smaller crowds for the season, so that's not going to help fire them up. One thing in our favor is its going to be the cold, not sure ULM players will be ready for it, they think it will not effect them, but it will

Did the ULM players or coaches say it won't effect them?

That usually helps from what we have seen before. Also, maybe ULM has a coach with ample cold weather game experience? I hear that can spot a few points coming right out of the locker room.

RE: ULM @ App - SpeedkingATL - 11-18-2016 10:23 AM

This certainly has trap game written all over it. Cold and windy conditions would help as App will as always rely on the ground game and stout defense. I don't see any way they beat the spread for many reasons; improved ULM, stagnate passing game, hangover from Troy loss, and what has become a rather tame crowd at The Rock as of late. I wish the game started an hour later so that the teams would have some real cold and snow to deal with which would help the Apps. I expect trench warfare to win the day.

RE: ULM @ App - ericsaid - 11-18-2016 12:56 PM

I would imagine that the team comes out with a little bit of fire after the way they lost to Troy. This week could get out of hand.

I'm betting those Louisiana boys freak over the weather. Last year the Cajuns had portable heaters on the sidelines and it was in the high 40's. That'll seem like a July day compared to what's in store for those guys tomorrow.

I wore short-sleeves and shorts to the game. I believe it was high 50's at kickoff.

59 degrees and Overcast at kickoff.

How smoky is it in Boone? The smoke has finally reached Raleigh, but it's not that bad. There's just a little haze and a faint scent.

It really depends on where you are. The smoke and haze in Blowing Rock is much worse than Boone right now at 6:15pm. Who knows what the wind gusts will bring tomorrow. High School games in western NC could be affected tonight.
