I've been mostly offline for a week, but sounds like I missed a lot. Trump wants to pardon everyone, fire Mueller, Mueller is looking at Trumps finances, Senate still flailing on Obamacare repeal. And Trump hates Sessions now.

If Trump does fire Mueller and then pardons himself, Jared, and Ivanka, would that be enough to turn his supporters against him?

Seriously inappropriate speech by Trump in front of the Boy Scouts:

I thought about posting that as well.

Kinda strange to see a current POTUS actively ragging on the previous POTUS in front of a bunch of teenagers who are into scouting.

In a sense it's a minor transgression, but it just seems to sum up the problems with Trump pretty well:

And another thing... (Sorry, I'm having my Monday a day late...)

I have a daughter in middle school. The school talks about and has sessions to address bullying and online bullying. A sad fact of life, unfortunately.

But I'm pretty sure this is the first time in American history where the POTUS is being an online bully to his own AG.

W.T.F?

I'm not going to cry a single tear for Jeff Sessions being "bullied" - the avowed drug warrior, and king of civil asset forfeiture. In fact I was kind of half joking with some friends back in January that Jeff Sessions was the best possible pick for AG from a libertarian perspective, because he'd have to quit the Senate, and he'd probably end up get fired from the AG in a year or so.

COGS

I do understand the point you're trying to make about online bullying though. I just don't think that saying mean things about politicians could ever qualify as bullying.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like Sessions at all. More commenting on the ludicrous spectacle of it all.

Trump is likely to lose his AG and SoS within his first year in office. Crazy.

Kinda amusing hot mic moment for Susan Collins and Jack Reed.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/politics/wp/2017/07/25/senators-on-hot-mic-trump-is-crazy-im-worried/

Reassuring that two Senators from different parties can still talk to each other like normal people. Alarming that it's bipartisan agreement that this President and administration is clueless, incompetent, and possibly crazy.

RE: Trump Administration - RiceLad15 - 07-26-2017 08:23 AM

Trump at it again this morning.

Apparently declaring via Twitter that transgender individuals can't serve in the military.

RE: Trump Administration - JustAnotherAustinOwl - 07-27-2017 10:57 AM

And now, if I'm understanding correctly, the new WH communications director has tweeted that the President's Chief of Staff should be investigated by the FBI. I guess the new chant at Trump rallies will be "Lock Reince Up! Lock Reince Up!"

Like a well-oiled machine....

RE: Trump Administration - Rick Gerlach - 07-27-2017 12:00 PM

Trainwreck all the way around.

A commentary noted that this is what you'd expect if the attempt was to provide non-stop entertainment (i.e., reality TV writ large).

We elected a President, whose most recent claim to fame was being the main character on a reality TV show.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching 'Designated Survivor' last fall and spring. Nice escapism, and kept me coming back.

1. That was supposed to be entertaining and clearly fantasy. This should not be.

2. Sadly, the thought of bulldozing all of congress and the executive branch and forcing the states to send new people to solve the problems begins to sound like a good idea.

3. Worry about 'starting over' is that in dictatorships (see Venezuela, where Chavez rewrote the Constitution, and now Maduro is in the process of a massive revision project himself) or 'new governments' the first thing people want to do is to change the rules to institutionalize their power.

And now Scaramucci has also quoted Joe Paterno to demonstrate honor and integrity.

SNL might not miss Sean Spicer as much as I thought....

Odd choice to say these things ON RECORD.

Fair point. But I'd still say any time a WH communications director goes on record to deny oral self-pleasuring, and accuse other senior WH staff of the same, it is odd, and even Trump can't change that. :-)

What's odd is that someone serving as WH communications director either didn't realized he needed to have the "Off the record" conversation before he began talking to someone who makes their living off of reporting conversations and information, or got so emotionally worked up by the situation that he totally forgot to have the conversation. Given his experience, my guess is the former.

LBJ (and others) were known to get pretty earthy off the record.

Further indication of people being put in positions where they do not understand the basic rules of the job in which they've been placed. Lack of experience, lack of competence. On the job training, but at the most visible level in the land.
