Solyndra

Lines all blurred between lobbyists and government officials; investors with direct ties to DOE officials, all the same sort of thing going on. And the Solyndra affair didn't even start with Obama; but with Bush. I'm not defending it, I'm just saying that the media and the Democrats have been ok with it for decades - until now.

The media has been OK with for decades.

Posts article from mainstream media outlet reporting on the exact issue that apparently the media has been OK with...

Keep on dancin', make me spell it out for you...

Nothing in WaPo or anywhere but Fox and conservative rags calling out for Obama's resignation, pointing out his unfitness for office, etc...

Can you provide the link to Cummings' demand for an investigation into Obama's dealings, or his impeachment?

The topic of this conversation for me isn't corruption, it's hypocrisy and double standards.

You are so shocked, shocked by what you read about Trump, but the same stuff doesn't stop you from voting for Blue Team.

Keep on dancing? You complained about the media not covering conflicts of interest by using a media report about the very types of conflicts of interest you said they didn't cover!

I literally couldn't write a funnier post. At least you could have used a story that only Fox covered.

I'm certainly not suggesting that Dems were equally as hard on Obama as they have been on Trump. Same as Reps have not been equally as hard on Trump as they have been on Obama.

But seriously, the media covered Obama and still scrutinized him and his administration. And you referencing the WashPo proves it. Or do you think they should have also called him out for using mustard and wearing a tan suit as Fox did?

Maybe the people of Baltimore should seek political asylum.

Thanks. I missed those when they happened. Maybe they thought Dijon mustard and tan suits were unPresidential, which, as we know now, is grounds for impeachment.

But I have no problem with either.

Any President can wear anything he wants, although I must confess, Trump's ties give me pause. Thank goodness nobody has noticed.

And the only impeachable condiment is ketchup.

Trump's ill-fitting suits are grounds for punishment much more severe than impeachment...

Really good piece that hits the nail on the head regarding this whole fiasco:

Quote:Though it is perfectly legitimate to express outrage over Trump's tweet, it's equally legitimate to talk about the failed leadership by Democrats of this once-great city. And how a different philosophical outlook—a different way of approaching problems—might be in order.

Our leaders—Republicans and Democrats alike—must do better. Trump must do better. Because young lives hang in the balance. And they deserve so much more than they're getting given the federal, state and local dollars being spent on their behalf.

So you can understand why Red Team continues to support Trump. No different than Blue Team supporting Obama and Clinton. Personally, I don't care for Blue Team's tactics - deliberate misrepresentations and accusations of racism right on the floor of the House and Senate.

...and this is why the Democrats are frantic to label even speculation about why Baltimore is Baltimore as "racist." In the past, invoking that term has silenced debate, but Trump is too tactless to follow that social convention. They just cannot afford to have the national dialogue turn to wondering if things never change because change would not be in their interests.

So your thesis is that the outrage over Trump's tweet isn't justified in the slightest?

In the past, invoking that term has silenced debate, but Trump is too tactless to follow that social convention. They just cannot afford to have the national dialogue turn to wondering if things never change because change would not be in their interests.

So your thesis is that the outrage over Trump's tweet isn't justified in the slightest?

How on earth do you get that from what I wrote? Are you deliberately misrepresenting my statements?

"To understand how bad things really are, Baltimore's homicide rate in 2018 was 56 per 100,000 people. That tops 50.3 per 100,000 in El Salvador."

And they deserve so much more than they're getting given the federal, state and local dollars being spent on their behalf.

...and this is why the Democrats are frantic to label even speculation about why Baltimore is Baltimore as "racist." In the past, invoking that term has silenced debate, but Trump is too tactless to follow that social convention. They just cannot afford to have the national dialogue turn to wondering if things never change because change would not be in their interests.

Because you just said that the reason why Democrats were outraged over Trump's tweets is because they want to cover up the failures of the Democrats running Baltimore...

The media and congressional outrage is faux outrage, yes. Theater. Those who actually believe the mischaracterization of the tweet might be genuinely outraged.

So again, your thesis is that the outrage over Trump's tweet isn't justified in the slightest? Unless the slightest is people being hoodwinked by what you deem a mischaracterization?

I don't see why you got so offended at my question...

Offended? I'm not offended. I am puzzled why it's so important to you to have the question of "justification" answered. I'm also not going to be maneuvered into saying people aren't entitled to their (legitimate) emotions.

Faux outrage is inherently unjustified. What conceivable justification could there be for pretending to be outraged?
