I'm all for the second half being cancelled and just watching Calvin Anderson do rubix cubes.

can the more knowledgeable folks explain to me how our corners are ALWAYS on an island with no safety ANYWHERE on the screen?

like, how can that always happen? where is our safety?

RE: Gamethread: Rice Owls @ WKU Marshmallows - greyowl72 - 09-01-2016 08:50 PM

WKU receiver ran right past our coverage.

I'm not blaming players for this. We need a new Head Coach. I believe someone else can get much more out of these same guys. They have talent. The coaching seems to just stay minor league.

+1. Consistent basic coaching mistakes in-game, complete lack of in-game adjustments, and seven years without improving deep ball coverage.

After 1 or two years, maybe forgivable. In year 10? That's poor recruiting ability, at least partially. It's not like he can say he didn't know this was an area we are weak on.

If anyone wants some good news, Jordan Taylor just caught a 57 yard TD pass in the Broncos preseason game.

Well, close enough

Wow. That FG try was truly pathetic.
But with this offense, who needs a FG kicker?

Only thing worse than our Secondary is their Kicking Game.

RE: Gamethread: Rice Owls @ WKU Marshmallows - Volente Beach Owl - 09-01-2016 08:54 PM

It seems like this is the 5th or 6th season in a row where we have a gaping deficiency in covering the deep ball. It is obvious at this point that every opposing offensive coordinator is game planning to exploit this weakness. How can 5-6 years go by without a successful adjustment being made?

Should be quite a fun chore for the admin staff to try to get people to come watch this mess.

It feels like we've got the personnel we need in place across the athletic department with one glaring exception.
