Quite a growth spurt for Tyson, from 6'2" three years ago, to 6'5" last year to 6'7" this year. He still has a couple years of growing left.

I saw that. I believe it said his dad is 6'8 and mom is 6', so he definitely could grow some more.

@derek_cbh: William and Mary today [basketball emoticon] [trophy emoticon]

Don't know exactly what this means but it could be something.

If Tony uses them all we have six scholarships to offer for this one class. Most for one year in memory.

RE: 2018 Basketball Recruiting - Tribeheart - 08-04-2016 07:45 AM

As much of a luxury it is to be able to put all of their focus on the 2018 class, it has got to be very difficult to weigh where you spend your time...Some players are advanced as sophs, but don't progress much, whereas, so many have big jumps between sophomore and junior years. Easy to have all the time spent now go for naught because players move to high major attention, or don't continue to progress. Fully understand not making any 2018 offers yet, because it's somewhat moot until these kids are in the timeframe for starting to focus on decisions after their junior years. As well as, there is not enough academic history to be comfortable that they will qualify at this point. Would bet a lot of lessons learned by the staff going forward with this 2018 class.

Yeah, the important thing here is the early contact. So many players say "such and such school has been with me from the beginning. I remembered that". (Marcus Thornton, anyone). So, the contact with a solid group of potential stars is definitely a good thing. It gives the coaches a longer window to establish a comfort zone.

RE: 2018 Basketball Recruiting - mrjoolius - 08-04-2016 08:29 AM

Fully agree on not extending offers too early. But it's a good time, as it seems the coaches are doing, to get in early and court potential W&M inclined players. Relationships with a coaching staff have sealed a lot of deals in the past. Even if high majors come calling late, sometimes long relationships and knowing that you are a priority trump all.

I have to trust the coaches know what they're doing with recruiting based upon their track record, particularly over the last 7+ years.

2018 C Isa Maguire visiting W&M on Thursday. 6'10" out of Chicago.

Saw that prephoops had rated him the top center in Illinois 2018 class...Go to work Justin and David!

From the Lindblom Basketball Twitter account:
6'10 PF Isa Maguire (2018) has heard from Yale,Brown,Columbia,UC-Davis,Drake,Kent St. 4.63 GPA! Should be an Ivy / Patriot League PRIORITY!
11:26 AM - 22 Jun 2016

According to the same twitter account he has recently visited NIU and Illinois' campuses.

RE: 2018 Basketball Recruiting - billymac - 08-23-2016 12:24 PM

Excellent rebounder and shot blocker. Has jumped from 6'7" to 6'9", to now 6'10", so, yeah he could put on a pound or two. This would be a great get.

RE: 2018 Basketball Recruiting - TDenverFan - 08-23-2016 02:05 PM

Have we ever had a 6'10 center?
