They were our "centers" though. Lee played a few minutes, but our big guys were VV and Dahi.

Yes, during Lee's freshman year. Even then Lee still played a lot of minutes and from the 2 or 3 games from later in the year I looked at he did very well (better than they did) according to the stats.
VV and Dahi also played with Laughton and they weren't playing center while he was on the court (which was a lot).

Neither of them were centers. They played with lee and more importantly Loughton.
They were also both very special players who could dominate inside and also score from the outside.
We have NO ONE like that on our current roster so no, all 6"7 power forwards are not created equal.

We were in NC today to see this 6-9, euro big and also was SC checking out a guard. The big is a real big, new high school, he's been playing well. Has a few offers, several looking. Think he might be a good fit, from the scouting report.

Based solely upon reading the linked article, he sounds like he might have a similar game to Laughton and Lee in that he is comfortable being physical inside and can shoot the 3. If Jones wants him then lets hope that he is successful in signing him. At least we know for certain that Jones is definitely trying to bring in a big center for next season. I like that he has some range to his game in addition to being a presence inside.

He lacks great athleticism. Great footwork for his size. Has a nice jumpshot. I have a feeling he's going to be productive at our level. Hope we can land him.

Here is an interview with Jones and he mentions that he's in Atlanta (we all know that I think), but he mentions that they were also in DC watching a tournament and the other assistants were at other places (they didn't mention where) on recruiting trips. He also talks about the UR and BG games.

Add a Gerald Lee type to the others Jones and company are bringing in, that would be an amazing recruiting class for Odu.
