By a decent center, I am referring to one that can fairly easily both defend against a big center down low (alone), and score in the low post one on one. We are getting people that can score from outside and he would help stretch the defense.

I know you don't want any post up types, so we can just leave it at that.

The guy here this weekend sounds like just what Giles is referencing.

Another one I don't remember seeing on here is Vince Lee. He is going everywhere visiting so I'm not sure where his mind is at. He does have an offer from Iowa State though.

Another two to keep eyes on are Alexander Sukhanov and Jerrel Kelly. Kelly appears to be a guy with a ton of upside with a great wingspan and ability to play all over the floor.

Ed Miller article on the 3 recruits. Interesting takeaway is he mentions it's a class that could get up to 5 recruits.

Lee committed to Nevada.

Sukhanov is not and shouldn't be on our radar.

The quote by one of our new recruits "Middle Tennessee is the team I've heard about in that conference (CUSA)" shows that kids don't think past 3 or 4 seasons back. CUSA has some pretty impressive programs historically, UAB, ODU, WKU, La Tech, Charlotte... but in the this kid's mind, and Im sure most others, Middle Tenn is the the premier program. Sure it is right now, but thats like saying Purdue is the premier basketball program in the Big 10 or FSU in the ACC. Getting back to the NCAAs would do wonders for our climb back to relevance in the minds of recruits.

Yes it would. Unfortunately, it may well take a flash in the pan as nobody in a 14-team, 25th ranked conference is likely to build much on being a consistent conference contender that falls short every year. No at-large bids here.

That 25th ranking has to be an anomaly too. CUSA should be a top 15 conference most seasons.

The last 3 years:

16-17 23rd
15-16 22nd
14-15 17th

Yikes. Thats bad. I didnt realize how bad. The CAA was usually in the 18-14 range if Im not mistaken. And we left that (what we thought was a sinking ship) to what was supposed to be a better basketball conference. Theres no excuse for this conference not to be top 15.

CAA hasn't been much better, if any. I do expect the conference to be better this year though, some teams have stepped up.

It's not an anomaly. The reason is the bottom teams are REALLY far behind. Top 4 in the conference can hang with any P5 program. Top 8 can hang with any other 'top' mid major team.

This is not true. Top four cannot hang with ANY P5, and 4-8 definitely cannot hang with the best mid majors.

1 and sometimes 2 can hang with some good P5 teams. 3&4 aren't embarrassing, and the rest are varying degrees of bad.

How could anyone think that C-USA with its current geography is a good idea? Could the commissioner of the league even defend it?

Wonder how the recruiting visit went this past weekend? Blewbyu, Coach or Dabig, did you hear anything?

You aren't going to get the jump on anything looking at VC.
