Hope the size of these recruits are true and accurate.

Don't know about the first 3; the last kid is at Walsingham in Williamsburg under ex-W&M player Billy Barnes.

I don't think so...Their names were mentioned but I have no idea what they were. I know a couple of the countries they are going and neither is listed in your list. But what the heck...the guys you listed look good to me.

So what are the couple of countries that you know them to be going to on this recruiting trip?

Hearing that we are OUT for 6-5 CG Jason Wade. Son of ODU great Ronnie Wade. Going to either VCU or WSU Shockers. Very sad.....

Probably a good move on his part. We are deep and young there.

How do you figure that ? We lose Haynes, Pickney, BJ and Caver the following year. There is Plenty of PT available. Next year and certainly th year after. I would say it is a wise choice because he is going to a team that goes to the NCAA's each year.

Sad to hear this. I know Ronnie is still a big ODU fan. Would like to have seen his son follow in his footsteps.

Just a prime example of JJ once again not being able to close the deal!

Wow. Not your best Jeff. That one is gonna hurt.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - odu09 - 09-02-2017 07:12 AM

Maybe he wants to go somewhere to create his own legacy. But to consider VCU... wow. That is a rough one.

What if JJ isn't coercing and manipulating kids into doing what they dont want? As a parent I respect that. I hope his dad does all of that regarding VCU tho, he has everything to manipulate him. :)

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Whatever he IS doing isn't working. This program is swimming in mediocrity.

JJ has had plenty of time and hasn't shown he is capable of improving this program. If you are satisfied with what he has done so far then you should be happy because it will NOT get any better. Wishful thinking and rose colored glasses are a thing of the past.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Mr.BigBlue - 09-03-2017 10:08 AM

To me we all agree that defense has to be a priority and must be done according to a philosophy and system that JJ sets and demand. My biggest issue is offense. He refuses to allow anything a little unstructured or up tempo. Scorers seem to come into his system and struggle with confidence and hesitancy. They seem to be worried about taking a shot that is not in some set system or missing and getting yanked and chastised. Scorers and play makers have to flexibly and a clear mind with no fear to be effective.

I read a book, last year, on statistical probability written by the dean of Stanford' math department. His research shows the probability of a second generation players/musician/artist being much closer to mean level level of accomplishment and ability compared to an expert/GOAT parent...every time someone bemoans a loss of a 'legacy' player, I think back to this book.
For Every Ken Griffey Jr, there are several Michael Jordan Jrs.
We often transfer the ability of father/mother to son/daughter just because of the lettering on the uni.

Bryant Stith and his sons - B.J. & Brandan would be another example. While they are solid ball players, they aren't at the same level of play that Bryant was while in college. Perhaps B.J. will get closer to being there over the next couple of years. Brandan has had more of an uphill climb since he is playing center while his father was able to play power forward (which is where Brandan would probably be better at).

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Gilesfan - 09-03-2017 01:26 PM

Wait, you didnt watch Bryant Stith, did you? He was a shooting guard.
