Whether it works out that he fulfills his potential at ODU in the years ahead only time will tell. As for today, this is the kind of player I have been waiting for ODU to get on board - i.e. a center with size, mobility, and more than one year of eligibility that was sought by more than just mid to lower level teams coming out of high school. Kudos to Jeff and the rest of the coaching staff and welcome to Monarch Nation Dajour Dickens.

Thanks for the help DaBig. I had heard that Godwin is looking very good around the practice facility. I am hearing that he is putting in a great deal of work and it should translate to some quality PT.

Same here. Let's see if he gets the waiver first. If not, we are still shorthanded in the frontcourt for next season, which will likely be the 8th in a row without an NCAA bid, by far the longest drought on record.
This is a good pickup and should be a good player for us for years to come (provided that he doesn't graduate and leave for Colorado when he is most needed). It's almost good enough of a pickup that, if we don't get to the dance next season, I'm almost tempted to give the staff an extra year...almost.
But I'm not falling for that trick again. Been there, done that. It seems that "our year" is always one season away. Just wait until we get this next 3-4 star guy in our lineup, then all will be well. Unfortunately, that promise of success never seems to come to fruition.
So while JJ and staff are finally landing some young frontcourt players, a failure to get to the dance this year will mean that we have to start rebuilding the backcourt after this season.
Sooner or later, we need THIS YEAR to be our year. I'm tired of waiting for the myth of NEXT YEAR. Nope, not going to fall for that one again.
Call it too little too late. 2019 NCAAs or Jones has to go!!!

I had no idea who they would bring in. But, I didn't need to spend the last 3 months whining about not having transfer big men when there was plenty of time to recruit players. And didn't need to complain everytime a big man transferred elsewhere.
The other runny thing about several on this board is they whined we didn't have freshman big men, then when we signed two, they whined we didn't have transfer big men. Then, we got two and its on to something else.
