The libertarian option of Gary Johnson - OhioBobcatJohn - 03-01-2016 02:40 AM

For those of us that will never vote for Hillary Clinton and are offended by Trump trashing the establishment of the party there is the option of former Republican governor Gary Johnson and his Libertarian party. Very easy option for those that respect Senator Rand Paul contributions to the debates. Small government two term NM governor who vetoed spending. This could be the year the libertarian party gets over 10% from Republicans who are not pleased with the Tea party wing hijacking the party and nominating Trump. Trump will have to worry about Hillary and defections from the Republican side to the libertarian party.

sorry man....that's the same option as staying at home....

I'll never understand those that vote for something that means nothing....it's like chokin' a limp noodle....

I like the guy....I'd vote for him if it meant something....Kasich too....

however, one has to understand the simple things.....there are only two parties that matter....it doesn't matter if one likes it or not.....

if one wants to do that, go for it....it is one's right

I completely disagree that a life long red will make a protest vote in the general....and if one does, it's no different than voting blue......

today should be fun if only for comedic purposes....

Soft on immigration, soft on drugs, soft on defense, soft on crime. Might as well elect a leftist.

nailed it....and I'm supposedly a centrist according to some diptard site

I'm cool with weed, pro-choice, pro business, put the violent away for longer terms, don't fight dipshite wars, and don't let one more illegal motherfk'r cross the border....

hence, I have no party other than Trump.....and I'm hardly alone....

and if one doesn't like it, they can kiss my lily white.....

this is how I see this board moving forward today.......

The hope is to get a large enough percentage of the popular vote in November to force the networks to include the Liberty party in the 2020 debates. I'll be voting for him since Rand is out of the race. I know he stands no chance to get elected this year, but I would rather see a third party rise up to get more diversifying viewpoints.

I'll be voting today in primaries, and I know my vote for Presidential candidate won't mean much, but I've actually studied some of the other positions and perhaps my vote might mean something for a local politician today. I doubt it, but I can dream.

RE: The libertarian option of Gary Johnson - Motown Bronco - 03-01-2016 08:16 AM

I'd love to see Gary Johnson land that large of a percentage. But the skeptical side of me figures he'll pull in the same 1% like last time, maybe 1.5%.

If he had one nationally televised debate with the GOP/Dem nominees, he'd cash in. But to get that opportunity, you need the votes. Vicious cycle.

you're right....you can dream....I choose psilocybin for that 03-wink

I want what you and many others want.....

it's unfortunate I feel the need to choose the path of trump for those reasons.....

I'm on record for Kasich.....Johnson is weak....so are the rest of the others...hell, they really are all weak....

until someone comes with a consumption tax plan.....I will go with the strongest on the red side....

I will never.....and I mean NEVER vote for a dim.....

Not even going to give Hillary any chance to win. Voting for Whomever wins the GOP. We need to get Ourselves Out of the Quicksand We've been stuck in the last 7.3 years.

RE: The libertarian option of Gary Johnson - EverRespect - 03-01-2016 08:41 AM

If he is the best (or least destructive) candidate on my ballot, I'll err on the side of liberty and he'll get my vote.

I will partially disagree with you here. I am voting Gary Johnson. Here's the reason: I live in Texas. Texas will go the GOP candidate no matter what happens. My vote as a protest vote will not impact the general in the slightest, but it will increase Gary Johnson's percentage enough to piss the GOP off, and that makes me happy. Now if I still lived in Virginia, it's a completely different story and as you said, voting Gary is the same as just staying home and Dim comes out on top. But I don't live in Virginia anymore, I live in Texas. The same goes for those GOPers who live in California, it's a golden opportunity to give the middle finger to the GOP establishment by voting Gary

RE: The libertarian option of Gary Johnson - Motown Bronco - 03-01-2016 08:54 AM

Trump is too temperamental and vindictive, far more than the average politician, which is not the same as "speaks bluntly and off the cuff." Guys like Ron Paul were able to connect at a raw, grassroots level without resorting to insult-per-minute shenanigans.

I don't need high-brow sophistication in the Oval Office, but there's a level of decorum and tact I expect for the POTUS. And Trump hasn't proven that he'll display this on the world stage.

it's ironic when you think about it.....bush bush obammers obummers.....

I would love for someone to tell me how it gets worse than those last 15.3.....

What deserves to be blown up, the constitution? What are you referring to exactly?

We've had 16 years of incompetency in the executive branch. While this certainly leads to an argument of major change, it also makes me not want someone in power that wants to make the executive branch even more powerful.

that's fair....I have never voted in the general for the same reason.....the 'sip has always voted red//////if that's what you want to do, then go for it....I don't think I've presented anything that represents the opposite....

the cali argument is flawed.....they don't swing red....hell, who knows what they swing on.....

again....it's why we all get to vote....and it's how it tickles thine that matters....

Hell, isn't that way so many of us are not happy with Rubio as a candidate? I could even live with Rubio's tax plan (wouldn't like it, but I could stomach it) if he actually got off the amnesty train (which we KNOW he wont').

The two party political system.
The establishments ON both sides.
The corruption that is rampant.
The power that DC holds over the rest of us.
The Wall Street/K Street/ DC revolving door.

The whole thing needs to be blown up. **** DC.
