The University of Idaho gave the world's saddest PowerPoint presentation - Eagleditka - 02-18-2016 08:45 PM

Quote:This presentation does make some solid points. By virtually every metric, Idaho has not been the worst team in the Sun Belt, and it does have historical ties to the conference. And for all the complaints about Idaho causing travel burdens, multiple other Sun Belt teams have scheduled non-conference games out West as well.

Thank you for at least finding the nicest quote in that annoying article.

Very sad presentation . . it is as if someone has thrown in the towel already.

It's crap like this article and this thread that makes me smile every time the Vandals beat another Belt team.

Go Vandals. You may not be the best fit here but you've all earned my respect in the way
You've conducted yourselves in the face of all this conference mate vitriol.

I agree.

Its not vitriol on my part. I don't hate Idaho. I like their posters too. I don't think more than one or two here dislike Idaho.

But, everyone knows this ain't a long term thing. I don't support tossing them now. But if Missouri State or JMU is a real option, reality/geography comes into play.

If Idaho started making some OOC wins, that might really help their case.

I gave him my first ever rep points. Best I could do.

I won't knock Idaho for their program or facilities but seriously, their Marketing & Communications department couldn't help the President put together a better PowerPoint than that?

At the end of the day, my opinion is that the conference should have a tighter fit geographically. It's just not good to be stretched from Idaho to Georgia.

Again, that's just my opinion.

RE: The University of Idaho gave the world's saddest PowerPoint presentation - WinstonTheWolf - 02-19-2016 07:31 AM

Dang Idaho, you are trying to sell yourselves with misleading/false information?

A-State beat Idaho 48-24 in Jonesboro on 10/12/13 before you rejoined the Sun Belt. A-State also beat Ball State in the GoDaddy Bowl that season.

In 2014 A-State beat a good Utah State team.

So that is 3, not 1, non-conference wins in 2013-2015 for the Red Wolves.

Weak effort.

We had 3 in 2015 but was conveniently left off.

I think I remember Georgia Southern having a few too, maybe I'm wrong?

ULM beat wake forest in 2013 and 2014, so that would be two instead of the one that is listed.

Yeah, that was a weird slide. So many glaring errors if you just take it at face value. I wonder if there's more to that can only be understood in the context of the presentation.

It's also weird that they wouldn't bother putting GSU on there, since we ended up as a bowl team with relatively good press but only have one OOC FBS win the past three years. And that's a legitimate "one."

It appears that they only included teams from an assumed Sun Belt Western Division in football. Never mind, Troy is in there. Dumber than I thought.

Yeah. I'm praying this made sense in the context of the presentation, because I can't figure that slide out either.

It is a list of all the schools who have been in and stayed in the Sun Belt since 2013. Except for Georgia State because Idaho is mad at them for having a good season and ruining their argument of "at least were not as bad as Georgia State" as reasons for their renewal.

South Alabama was in the league in 2013 but they have more than one non-conference win, so let's exclude them.

RE: The University of Idaho gave the world's saddest PowerPoint presentation - Tom in Lazybrook - 02-19-2016 12:01 PM

I actually kind of like having Idaho and NMSU right now.

They give us the numbers many in the conference want, plus the flexibility we might use if a better fit presents itself.

If we eject Idaho, who do we replace them with (in no particular order)?

1) EKU - Maybe.
2) JMU - They're not interested
3) Lamar - We're not interested
4) Missouri State - They're not interested
5) Jacksonville State - We're not interested
6) Liberty - We're not interested
7) Wichita State - Not yet and they're not interested in all sports

---

Unless I'm missing something, the decision point as of now is as follows

1) Drop Idaho and/or NMSU and add no one
2) Drop Idaho and/or NMSU and add EKU
3) Keep Idaho and NMSU at this time

I'm good with extending for 2 years at this point. Although if we go to divisions, I'd personally like Idaho to be aligned with the Eastern schools. It would even out the 'far away schools' between the divisions and allow USA to stay West
