Yeah I was there. While I live in DC and occasionally root for Wiz, I was rooting for ATL cuz Baze. Seemed to play okay to me but the ATL fans on some forums, like Reddit, seem to despise him which is unfortunate. Wash played great defense tonight and ATL just seemed lost at times so I dont know why the ATL fans have this hatred for Baze, not only when he makes a couple mistakes but whenever they lose a game. He seems to be in their line of fire. Yet when they win, I don't see anything.
It's probably the $70MM contract. When he was making peanuts he was a steal and didn't factor into the salary cap really at all. Now that he's got a significant contract I think they've been wanting him to be a bigger factor on the floor. He's been doing good this season but I think some ATL fans don't see his quality of play to be worth the contract value.
Yeah. The top thread on the Hawks subreddit is titled "Trade Baze"
But the top comment is someone defending him:
THJ went for -19 , prince was -13 and baze entering 4Q was +9. Before 4Q started THJ was already -16 and THJ started both games. Baze may have fuked up 3 shots (2-5) and 4 TO, THJ fuked up 9 shots(5-14) with 4 TO. Im not saying Baze is the best player, but you may want to ramble the loss the other way.

He plays hard for Atlanta, but several times in the game last night he still reminded me of himself during his first couple of seasons at ODU where he was running all around and at times out of control defensively such as when he leaped out of bounds into the guy and was called for a technical. He still was missing too many close in shots. Seems to me that he rushes a lot of his shots in close. I think he would be better off just shooting it like he was by himself in practice. If the shot ends up getting blocked, fine, but at least you gave it a chance to go in if it didn't get blocked by putting up a softer shot attempt. They don't have to block it if you are going to miss it on your own.
I agree with the earlier poster who said that with his new 70 million dollar salary he has become much more of a target to the fans. Besides that, the guy on the bench is always a better player than the guy that is playing ahead of them. You know how that works among the fans.
I like Kent and really want him to have a long and successful career in the NBA.

Hawks defeat Wizards 116-98 in game 3, their first win in the series. Baze played great defense tonight. Had 8 points 3 rebounds 4 assists a steal a block and a turnover.

NBA playoffs have been pretty fun to watch this year. First round has been quality. Glad this one is turning into a series. Boston-Chicago, Houston-OKC, Utah-LAC have also been tight.

Kent played a good first half against Washington tonight. It is currently half time and he has 10 points and 5 assists. Atlanta leads at the half 59 - 50.

I was watching the Hawks game from a bar with the kids. KB24 was getting a lot of air time! The cameras love following him around during timeouts, etc.
