ECU fans,give it a rest. We have the most unhappy and unrealistic fan base on this board. No Qb means the team is going to be bad this year. Air Raid is QB centric. If we are still bad next year,then yes something is wrong and we need a change. For now,deal with,these players are not here to make you happy.
What else can we blame Coach Ruff for?

Really? Why do we help give these guys scholarships, etc. to play for our school? To make us sad? That said, I don't blame the players. I try to not overreact but some of the stuff that's been going on is ridiculous. I mean it seems like our ineptitude is almost systematic and continuous. I really don't want to be negative and I truly like coach Ruff but there has to be some accountability at some point. I'm not even talking Win/Loss record but when your coach can't even accept responsibility, and provides no reasonable feedback to media/public, there's simply no accountability and that intrinsically permeates down to the players IMHO. I really believe that after 6 years with no championships, to stick it out with him at the helm is just an exercise in futility. Just my 2¢ and I feel like it needs to be said. Apologies to all offended.

Love the thread title...lol on the Redskins though. After 20 years and people still refuse to accept the Panthers.
All kidding aside. Realistic expectations for ECU should be 7-8 win seasons with an occassional 6 win and 9-10 win season. I don't dislike Ruff but I don't think he's the guy to lead us to that realistic expectation. IMO, he's more of 6-7 win season expectation with an occassional 5 win and 8-9 win season. Subtle difference in win numbers that is anything but subtle in the actual success of the program.

We can blame the staff for not working around the QB struggles and using a different game plan. Good coaches adapts to their teams' strengths and weaknesses, not keep raming it down.
Your QB throwing a lot of INTs or has a weak arm? Call more running plays and roll outs.
You have a mobile QB that isn't an accurate passer? Call more options (read, triple, etc).
If all else fails? Throw out a freshman/redshirter cause you never know they may be better than what you currently have if given the chance.

Holtz had 2 in 5 years and his CUSA was much stronger than Ruff had for 3 years.
